Job description

Metro Customs Brokers, a subsidiary of Omnitrans Inc., is looking for a Customs Brokerage Processor to join our Processing Team in US Customs Brokerage division.

Location : NY City area, Garden City, Rouses Point, Buffalo

Available Shifts :

Monday to Friday (8:30 am - 5:00 pm)

Tuesday to Saturday ( 4:00 pm- 12:00 am)

This person validates and processes commercial documentation for presentation of entry release request to US Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Responsibilities

  • Ensure that shipment files contain the proper documentation such as: Commercial invoices, packing list, manifests, PGA documentation, Free Trade Agreement declarations, etc.
  • Review the content of these documents to make sure there is no missing information required to rate shipment, such as: country of origin, additions, deductions, etc.
  • Process missing information request and return file to Client Representative for follow up
  • Establish the value for duty of the shipment (applying valuation adjustments as required, etc.)
  • Determine suggested Tariff Treatment
  • Identify the proper classification code for each imported good
  • Ensure compliance with all ACE reporting elements
  • Ensure that urgent files are processed and daily workflow is completed / allocated
  • Support PAPS call center
  • Perform other general clerical duties as necessary

  • Completion of vocational or technical degree
  • At least 3 years customs brokerage experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • High level of autonomy and time management skills required.
  • High ability to handle multiple priorities without losing details
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficient computer skills required (MS Office) and can quickly learn the company software and specific programs.
