Strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to multitask are crucial soft skills for this role. These capabilities help ensure accurate processing of shipments, regulatory compliance, and efficient collaboration in fast-paced logistics environments.
As a Customs Broker Assistant, your day-to-day tasks usually involve preparing and processing shipping documents, verifying the accuracy of import/export paperwork, and communicating with clients, customs officials, and logistics partners to ensure timely clearance of shipments. You’ll also assist in tracking shipments, organizing files, and entering important data into customs software systems. The role requires balancing multiple priorities throughout the day and responding quickly to documentation requests or changes. Collaborating with licensed brokers and other team members is common, giving you valuable exposure to the compliance and logistics processes in international trade.

Major Duty and Responsibilities
Timely and Accurate Shipment Processing
Ensures smooth and timely freight process flow according to Expeditors' operational procedures. Follows customer's standard operating procedures and proactively notifies customers of any issues. Consistently meets KPI standards, as per company's procedures.
Timely and Accurate Data Entry
Ensures accurate and timely data entry into our operational systems according to Expeditors' operational procedures and customer requirements. Monitors exception reports for quick data integrity resolution.
Timely and Accurate Billing and Accounting
Invoices customers the expected charges timely and accurately and according to Expeditors and customer requirements. Properly provisions service provider charges to avoid reserves. Follows proper credit approval processes in order to minimize risk and protect the company.
Operations:
Receive documents.
Prepare customs entries in Exp.o Customs.
Understand the elements of the Import & export customs SOP.
Ensure accurate and timely data entry into operating systems from LOG to DLV.
Ensure timely customs clearance of shipments.
Monitor customs clearances and communicate with Customers.
