What is a customer success advisor?

A Customer Success Advisor is a professional who helps customers achieve their goals by providing ongoing support, guidance, and education about a company's products or services. Their main objective is to ensure customers have a positive experience, maximize the value they receive, and maintain long-term relationships. They often work closely with sales, support, and product teams to address customer needs and proactively resolve any issues that arise. Customer Success Advisors play a crucial role in reducing customer churn and driving customer satisfaction.

Position Overview

As a Preconstruction Subject Matter Expert (SME) within Autodesk's Construction Technical Sales organization, you will serve as a trusted advisor for Autodesk's most strategic construction customers and sales opportunities.

You will bring deep expertise in preconstruction workflows - including estimating, quantity takeoff, bid management, subcontractor qualification, procurement planning, budgeting, and risk mitigation - to help customers improve how they plan, pursue, and win work.

Working closely with Autodesk account teams, you will support complex sales opportunities, connect customer challenges to measurable business outcomes, and help organizations modernize preconstruction processes using Autodesk Forma solutions. Your ability to align technology investments with operational efficiency, risk reduction, and business growth will help customers drive meaningful transformation across their preconstruction organizations.

The majority of this role's time will be spent supporting strategic customer opportunities, executive engagements, and field-facing sales activities. As an overlay SME, you will partner closely with sales teams to accelerate opportunities, strengthen customer relationships, and position Autodesk as a strategic technology partner throughout the preconstruction lifecycle. This role will also help drive Autodesk's preconstruction strategy in the market by serving as an industry advocate, supporting go-to-market initiatives, and helping customers modernize their preconstruction organizations.

Responsibilities

Strategic Sales Support:

  • Act as a SME supporting Autodesk's most complex sales opportunities involving preconstruction workflows and Autodesk Forma solutions

  • Partner with Account Executives, Technical Specialists, Customer Success teams, and channel partners to advance opportunities through industry expertise and workflow consulting

  • Conduct discovery sessions to understand customer business processes, organizational goals, operational challenges, and technology ecosystems

  • Translate customer pain points into measurable business outcomes and solution strategies

  • Provide competitive positioning and industry perspective throughout the sales cycle

  • Support technical evaluations, executive presentations, workshops, and proposal development efforts

  • Help customers connect workflow improvements to measurable business outcomes

Preconstruction Workflow Expertise:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert across the preconstruction lifecycle, including takeoff, estimating, bidding, procurement, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management

  • Advise customers on preconstruction best practices, workflow optimization, and digital transformation initiatives

  • Help customers evaluate and modernize preconstruction processes using Autodesk Forma for Preconstruction solutions

Executive Advisory and Customer Engagement:

  • Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders ranging from estimators and preconstruction managers to executives and business leaders

  • Advise construction executives on preconstruction strategy, workflow modernization, operational efficiency, and risk reduction initiatives

  • Help customers build business cases for change and establish measurable success metrics tied to technology investments

  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the customer lifecycle

Industry Leadership:

  • Represent Autodesk at customer events, conferences, webinars, industry associations, and executive briefings

  • Deliver presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and thought leadership content focused on preconstruction best practices and emerging industry trends

  • Maintain awareness of market trends, competitive solutions, and evolving preconstruction practices

  • Serve as the voice of the customer by providing feedback to Autodesk Product, Marketing, and Enablement teams

Internal Enablement and Collaboration:

  • Support sales enablement initiatives through training, coaching, and knowledge sharing

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to develop preconstruction-specific messaging, content, and sales resources

  • Partner with Customer Success teams to support successful adoption and expansion of preconstruction workflows

  • Contribute to scalable best practices, playbooks, and repeatable sales motions that improve field effectiveness

  • Influence Autodesk product strategy by sharing customer insights, industry trends, and workflow requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction industry experience, including significant leadership or practitioner experience in preconstruction, estimating, bidding, procurement, or related disciplines

  • Experience serving in roles such as Estimator, Senior Estimator, Chief Estimator, Preconstruction Manager, Director of Preconstruction, or similar construction operations leadership positions

  • Deep understanding of commercial construction preconstruction workflows, best practices, and industry standards

  • Strong understanding of project delivery methods, contract structures, and construction business operations

  • Proven ability to connect technology investments to measurable business outcomes

  • Strong presentation, communication, facilitation, and executive engagement skills

  • Experience leading customer-facing discussions with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Willingness to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Autodesk Forma, Forma Takeoff, Forma Estimate, BuildingConnected, TradeTapp, or comparable preconstruction technology platforms
