Job description

Now Hiring: Service Employee

Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour

Maintains and fuels all school buses, activity, and commercial buses in conjunction with First Student's Maintenance Department. This person dispenses fuel, checks oil, maintains accurate stick and meter readings, stocks required supplies and equipment, and coordinates the flow of buses to ensure safe operation. Performs light maintenance as necessary to buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Opens the gates to the lot and checks bus parking areas to ensure all can be dispatched in a timely manner. Re-positions any buses that may impede the traffic in the yard
  • Maintains accurate records and completes Bulk Fuel Receiving Report, Fuel Variance Report, Closing Month-end Report and Meter Calibration Report
  • Notifies the Location Manager or designee when a fuel delivery is required and ensures that accurate stick readings are taken before and after delivery
  • Checks and fills the oil, antifreeze, power steering, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid and belts on buses being fueled
  • Performs light interior and exterior maintenance on buses as required
  • Performs any other management requests or directives as requested

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Knowledge of bus maintenance with the ability to learn maintenance skills.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Mostly office environment but requires periods of standing walking when in the service area away from the office.
  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
  • Little or no travel required, but meeting with local customers may be necessary.
