Job description

About Hydro

Hydro, Inc. is a global leader in industrial pump reengineering, headquartered in Chicago. Since 1969, we have been the world’s largest independent pump rebuilder, delivering engineering expertise, precision repairs, and support services to critical industries.

Your Day, Your Impact

On second shift, you arrive to a clean, organized cell ready to transform raw stock and castings into precise pump components. You open Mazatrol on a Mazak lathe, review prints with conventional and geometric tolerances, and decide whether to create or modify an existing program to meet a custom requirement. With tooling laid out and raw material staged, you complete setups on both lathes and mills, dialing in offsets to hold tight 0.001" tolerances. Throughout the run, you tune speeds and feeds to push productivity without compromising safety or quality, and you verify results with the right measuring tools before handing off a perfect part to the next operation.

What You’ll Tackle
  • Program Mazak lathes using Mazatrol; modify existing programs for custom parts and components
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes and mills efficiently and independently
  • Complete setups on a mix of large, refurbished pump parts
  • Lay out tooling and stage raw materials for smooth production
  • Machine from raw stock and castings to 0.001" tolerances while meeting safety and quality standards
  • Read and interpret drawings that include conventional and GD&T callouts
  • Adjust speeds/feeds to maximize throughput and tool life
  • Use varied measuring instruments accurately
  • Apply shop math to compute radii, bolt circles, and related dimensions
  • Collaborate with a skilled Hydro shop team and excel when working solo
What You Bring
  • 3+ years of CNC programming experience on Mazak lathes with Mazatrol control
  • Hands-on strength in both programming and machine setup/operation
  • Proficiency with precision measurement and print reading (including GD&T)
  • Solid math skills for radii, bolt circles, and dimensional problem-solving
Why Hydro

Join a team that solves complex machining challenges for critical pump applications worldwide. Expect strong compensation for the right candidate and clear paths for career growth as you expand your expertise across diverse parts and processes.
