Job description

Description:

Weldall Manufacturing is hiring experienced CNC Set-Up Machinists with expertise in machining heavy weldments using open-table Vertical Machining Centers, Horizontal Machining Centers, and Horizontal Boring Mills. This role is responsible for independently setting up, machining, and troubleshooting in a low-volume, high-mix job shop environment. This is a hands-on position for someone who thrives on variety and technical challenges.


Key Responsibilities

  • Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Set up and machine parts on CNC machining centers, including Vertical Machining Centers (VMC), Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC), and Horizontal Boring Mills.
  • Use part probes, tool setters, indicators, and edge finders to ensure accurate setups.
  • Apply work offsets (G54, etc.) and interpret/edit G and M codes to prove out programs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and CAD files to produce high-quality parts.
  • Optimize speeds, feeds, and tooling to ensure part quality and maximize tool life.
  • Operate Fanuc controls to run and adjust programs during machining.
  • Select and adjust tooling for efficient material removal and repeatable results.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues independently and collaborate with team members as needed.
  • Use appropriate inspection equipment to verify part conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow established safety practices and properly use required safety equipment.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a job shop or custom manufacturing environment.
  • Experience independently setting up CNC machining centers (VMC, HMC, and/or Horizontal Boring Mills).
  • Experience machining large weldments and performing complex setups.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T, with the ability to translate drawings into accurate setups and finished parts within required tolerances.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls preferred.
  • Confident working with work offsets (G54, etc.) and multiple coordinate systems.
  • Strong tooling selection, setup, and troubleshooting skills.
