Ink Room Manager

Sunline Products is seeking an experienced Ink Room Manager to lead one of the most critical areas of our production operation. We are looking for a highly organized professional with exceptional color formulation skills who understands that every accurate ink mix directly impacts production efficiency, print quality, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is meticulous, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and is passionate about creating systems that improve workflow, reduce waste, and keep production running without interruption.

What You'll Do

  • Formulate, mix, and match custom ink colors with exceptional accuracy.
  • Match PMS colors and customer samples across a wide variety of substrates and garment colors.
  • Maintain complete consistency in color reproduction from order to order.
  • Manage the daily operation and organization of the ink room.
  • Develop and maintain accurate ink formulas and documentation for repeat jobs.
  • Monitor ink inventory, order supplies, and maintain appropriate stock levels.
  • Eliminate unnecessary waste through proper inventory management and formulation practices.
  • Work closely with Production, Art, Scheduling, and Press Operators to ensure jobs move efficiently through production.
  • Troubleshoot color issues before they reach the press.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-conscious work environment.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements that increase production efficiency.
  • Standardize workflows and continuously improve organization within the ink department.
  • Train and mentor team members on proper ink handling, formulation, and organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of professional screen printing ink formulation experience.
  • Advanced color matching and formulation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of PMS color systems.
  • Experience with plastisol, water-based, and specialty inks.
  • Strong understanding of screen-printing production workflows.
  • Exceptional organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
  • Comfortable working under production deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience creating standardized operating procedures.
  • Experience managing an ink room or production support department.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and production systems.
