Lead a Team That Builds Dream Homes.

Heartland Builders is a one-of-a-kind, on-your-lot custom home builder serving Grand Rapids, Holland, the Lakeshore, and much of West Michigan. We're known for our PTQ Promise - a Price, Time, and Quality Guarantee that's unmatched in the industry. Our process is Easy, Fun, and Fast(er than you think).

We're looking for a Construction Manager to lead, manage, and hold accountable our team of Project Managers and construction personnel. If you're a builder who can lead others -- and you take pride in quality, process, and people -- this is your opportunity.

What You'll Do

Lead the Team

  • Hire, train, motivate, and manage all construction personnel
  • Lead weekly Construction and Warranty L10 meetings
  • Assign client homes to Project Managers based on mileage and time
  • Complete Quarterly Reviews for each employee
  • Build real trust and hold yourself and your peers accountable

Drive Quality & Process

  • Serve as the construction expert - train on codes, industry practices, and company methods
  • Own, maintain, and enforce all key process documents (Job Checklists, Scopes of Work, SOPs, Framing and Final Stages Reviews)
  • Ensure all homes are built to contract, specifications, and detail
  • Monitor quality through incentive checklists and quality control visits
  • Ensure compliance with the PTQ Promise guarantee

Manage the Schedule

  • Manage scheduling for construction and warranty items - ensure move-in dates are met
  • Manage Buildertrend tasks for PMs and trades to finish on time
  • Ensure prompt and accurate data flow through financial software

Manage Trade Partners & Warranty

  • Develop and maintain an 80/20 trade partner bench
  • Hire and review trade partners according to the Trade Partner Playbook
  • Handle escalated problems with trade partners
  • Manage warranty operations and ensure cost stays below .85% of revenue

What You Bring

  • 5-7+ years of project or construction management experience in custom home building
  • Strong managerial experience - you've led teams and held people accountable
  • Deep knowledge of construction practices, materials, and codes
  • Ability to read construction drawings and understand structure
  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to train employees and trade partners on construction techniques
  • People skills to handle conflict with customers, employees, and trade partners
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with scheduling software and systems

What You'll Get

  • $90,000-$115,000/year (based on experience)
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Company Truck
  • Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)
  • Leadership role on a growing, award-winning team
  • Opportunity to shape processes and build a high-performing department
  • Collaborative, values-driven culture
  • West Michigan location with a strong local reputation
  • Competitive benefits package (health, retirement, PTO)
