Job description

About Metrica
Rooted in a 17th-century workshop in Münster, Germany, Metrica has evolved into a global interior outfitter of superyachts, legacy-grade residences, and custom furniture. Across Germany, Austria, and the United States, our master makers, engineers, and project leaders combine craftsmanship, technical expertise, and material understanding to deliver custom interiors of exceptional detail and complexity.
Our work is guided by a commitment to enduring quality, thoughtful execution, and collaboration across every stage of the process.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a skilled Cabinet / Furniture Maker who takes pride in craftsmanship and wants to work on high-end, custom projects. Our work goes beyond traditional woodworking, our pieces often incorporate metal, stone, parchment, and other premium materials to create truly unique results.
If you're someone who enjoys solving complex build challenges, working with your hands, and seeing a project through from raw material to finished product, we'd love to meet you.
Key Responsibilities
  • Craft custom furniture and millwork to the highest quality standards
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, layouts, and specifications
  • Perform milling, assembly, veneering, and prep for finishing
  • Work independently on projects from start to finish
  • Execute precise joinery and advanced woodworking techniques
  • Maintain and sharpen hand tools (chisels, planes, etc.)
  • Protect materials and in-progress work throughout fabrication
  • Track time and meet project deadlines (occasional overtime may be needed)
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors
  • Help lead projects and support team members when needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace

What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of experience in a woodworking or cabinet shop (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of woodworking machinery, tools, and setup
  • Ability to work independently and problem-solve on the fly
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Mechanical aptitude and strong manual dexterity
  • Team-oriented mindset with solid communication skills
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and share knowledge with others
  • Pride in craftsmanship and a humble, professional attitude

Why Metrica
  • Work that stands out - Every project is custom, high-end, and detail-driven - no production-line work
  • Craftsmanship matters here - We value skill, precision, and pride in your work
  • Variety & challenge - You'll work with a range of materials and techniques, not just standard cabinetry
  • Room to grow - Learn new methods, expand your skill-set, and take on increasingly complex builds
  • Team-focused environment - Work alongside talented craftspeople who support each other
  • See your work come to life - Be involved from raw materials through finished product

Location & Benefits
Location:
Northampton, MA
(must be able to reliably commute or relocate)
Salary:
$18 - $30/hour, based on experience and skill level
Benefits:
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Short-Term Disability Insurance
  • Pension plan
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Employee discounts on shop goods

Our Approach
At Metrica, our work is shaped by a shared commitment to going beyond all measure. Across disciplines, workshops, and project teams, we combine creativity beyond boundaries, craftsmanship beyond compare, and quality beyond expectation to deliver interiors defined by precision, collaboration, and care in every detail.
If this opportunity aligns with your experience and interests, we encourage you to apply.
