Job description

Description

As a Transfer Car Operator with Liberty Packaging, you will contribute to the growth of our business by being a key player in safely moving goods and materials around a high traffic industrial environment. As a Transfer Car Operator you will help maximize efficiency of the production process by safely operating mobile equipment to move roll stock from train cars and/or trucks, manage raw materials, accurately scanning inventory in and out of the business, and safely stock rolls according to procedure. This full-time position reports directly to a Corrugator Supervisor at our Liberty Packaging location in Golden Valley, Minnesota. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Safely operate mobile equipment such as clamp truck, forklifts, lift trucks, hoists, or other material handling equipment in a high traffic industrial environment 
  • Accurately utilize an electronic scanning system to include a touch screen monitor located on the forklift, to track inventory levels and product location 
  • Responsible for regularly completing pre-operation inspection and reporting equipment faults or damages to leadership or maintenance 
  • Move roll stock from train cars and/or trucks, manage raw materials, accurately scanning inventory in and out of the business, and safely stock rolls according to procedure. 
  • Follow safety regulations and company guidelines 
  • Other duties, as assigned 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution or comparable experience in place of education. 
  • 2+ years experience operating mobile equipment  
  • Previous experience with a computer using skills such as typing, printing and data entry 
  • Ability to use math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division 
  • Ability to read work instructions to identify detailed steps for order completion 
  • Must be available to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS 

  • Previous roll clamp truck operation 
  • Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks 
  • Knowledge of distribution documentation: pick lists, packing slips, and bills of lading
  • Knowledge of warehouse organization, workflow as well as basic inventory control (I.e.: Amtech)
  • Previous experience with reading a tape measure 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

The starting pay rate for this position is $26.62 per hour plus hourly shift differential pay.
