Job description

MACS (Montgomery Armored Car Service, Inc.) and MACS Freight, LLC is a family owned and operated transportation company that specializes in providing deliveries that are custom tailored to each individual customer. We have been providing these services for almost 50 years.

MACS is currently searching for a Fleet Mechanic Manager that is able to service, maintain, repair and keep up with maintenance records on all company vehicles. This will involve everything from daily equipment checks to performing both minor and major repairs. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated and able to effectively maintain vehicles with little to no supervision. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and display a positive attitude.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Responsible for the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles in Montgomery and Birmingham
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles such as changing oil, checking batteries, belts, hoses, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on vehicles ranging from small economy cars to 26' straight trucks as specified in manufacturer designed procedures or accepted industry practices.
  • Maintains timely and accurate maintenance and repair records on all work performed.
  • Examines reports and invoices for accuracy on each vehicle repaired.
  • Contains costs by evaluating service and parts options.
  • Uses shop resources in a manner that allows for optimal productivity and timely completion of work.
  • Dedication and adherence to all company and industry safety standards.
  • Must be available for emergency situations after regular work hours when necessary (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years mechanic maintenance and repairs
  • Prefer ASE Certification(s)- Master Automobile or Truck Technician
  • Diagnostic, Electrical and AC skills are required
  • Have previous fleet experience and are familiar with diesel and gasoline systems
  • Able to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Basic computer skills with ability to use diagnostic programs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Alabama Driver's License
  • Acceptable MVR
  • Clean criminal background check
  • Reliable transportation to work
