Job Duties

The Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation's three facilities. This role actively involves performing a variety of manual labor tasks, including standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects.
Custodians are expected to safely operate manual and power cleaning equipment, strictly follow chemical label and oral instructions, and embraces the established Housekeeping Model under management direction.
A strong commitment to customer service is required to ensure an exceptional visitor experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of:

Professional cleaning methods and industry standards.

Best practices related to safety when cleaning and using power cleaning equipment.

Skilled in:

The safe use of cleaning chemicals, equipment and supplies.

The safe operation of manual and power cleaning equipment.

Performing a variety of daily cleaning tasks, including but not limited to: dusting, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, window cleaning, toilet cleaning and other general cleaning duties.

Demonstrated ability to:

Read and follow cleaning label and other written instructions.

Actively listen and follow oral instructions;

Safely tolerate contact with cleaning products and solutions.

Lift heavy objects, to stand for extended periods, and to perform manual labor.

Special emphasis on "customer first" service provided in accordance with guidelines outlined by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.

Fully embrace the Housekeeping Model per the direction of Senior Housekeeper, Housekeeping Supervisor and Facilities Manager.

Additional Considerations

Experience driving golf/utility cart.
