JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Custodian
Pay rate $18.25(Starting)
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; possess knowledge and skills relating to all aspects of facilities custodial care and grounds care to maintain a safe, clean and functional facility; possess personal attributes of honesty, ingenuity, diligence, reliability and dependability; obtain certification as needed to perform assigned task list.
Job Summary: To ensure a clean, safe, healthy, attractive and efficiently functioning facility to insure no problems or interruptions to the educational programs; to execute responsibilities faithfully, conscientiously and intelligently in a cost effective and efficient manner; to promote good public relations including neatness in dress and personal appearance.
Major Duties & Functions:
Scope of Duties:
  1. Maintain the cleanliness of the building and grounds in all respects.
  2. Ensure the proper instructional environment.
  3. Cooperate with staff and students to harmoniously achieve the mission and belief of the school.
  4. Display a willingness to work overtime as required to ensure that school requirements are satisfied when emergency situations arise.
  5. Participate in the opening and/or closing and security of the facility.
  6. Ensure that cleaning standards meet established requirements.
  7. Properly utilize provided safety equipment when working in situations where hazards potentially exist (i.e. chemicals, etc.).
  8. Perform daily task list as assigned by supervisor.
  9. Perform related duties required for the daily operation of the school as requested by the Director of Physical Plant/building principal.

Sensory Abilities:
  1. Visual acuity to be able to see when areas are clean and to read labels, correspondence, etc.
  2. Ability to detect the smell of hazardous odors.
  3. Depth perception to be able to judge distance from objects.
  4. Ability to see/hear fire alarm signal.
  5. Fine and gross motor coordination.

Temperament:
  1. Ability to perform routine tasks repeatedly to the satisfaction of immediate supervisor.
  2. Ability to work as a member of a team.
  3. Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with the various publics that use the facility(s).
  4. Must be cooperative and service-oriented.
