ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are always in search of a Curb Machine Operator with experience who is talented, hardworking, willing to learn, be a team player and with a great attitude.


Job Summary

A Curb Machine Operator is responsible for operating a concrete curb machine and installations of curbs and gutters. Ensures project accuracy, efficiency, and quality according to project specifications.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate curb machine safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare and grade base material for curb installation.
  • Load, position, and pour concrete into the curb machine.
  • Perform daily maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Assist with hand finishing, edging, and clean-up tasks.
  • Follow all company safety rules and DOT regulations.
  • Driving and operating a self-propelled curb machine to lay concrete according to design specifications.
  • Interpreting specifications to determine the correct location, width, and shape of the curb.
  • Working with the construction crew to ensure smooth workflow and assisting with other tasks as needed.


Requirements

  • 1-year minimum experience operating a concrete or curb extruding machine.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting, twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, moving around hazardous sites.
  • Good Eye to Hand coordination a must. Depth perception required.
  • High School diploma/GED preferred.
  • Flexible availability to include overtime and possible weekends and nights.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Must be work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements, heat/cold temperatures, wind, rain, blowing dust.
  • Able to work around moving equipment and tolerate loud noise levels.
  • Bend and stoop repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Able to push, pull and lift 50+lbs.
  • Able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to walk on rough, rocky and uneven surfaces at construction sites.
