Job description

Breakthrough Public Schools is seeking a highly collaborative, customer-service oriented Office Assistant to join the school Operations team. School Operations teams focus on creating efficiency within the school's processes and procedures, curating a warm and welcoming environment for all stakeholders, and removing operational barriers from instructional staff so they may focus on student achievement.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal individual is humble, trustworthy, and solutions-oriented. They demonstrate a care for students and deep-rooted desire to further the mission of Breakthrough Public Schools. Other must-haves include:

  • At least 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced office environment
  • Spanish Speaking Preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and G-Suite (Docs, Slides, etc.)
  • Ability to maintain emotional control, even in stressful situations
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong word processing and grammar skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Desire to connect with and provide excellent customer service to families, students, and staff on a daily basis
Office Assistant Position
The Office Assistant supports the Front Office with clerical, administrative, and operational responsibilities. They are often the "face of the school," as the first person that families, visitors, and students see in the office. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Greeting, assisting, and directing all visitors to the Front Office
  • Efficiently maintaining and administering the phone system, including collecting and responding to voicemails
  • Supporting in the creation and maintenance of a warm and welcoming physical atmosphere in the school building
  • Receiving and distributing faxes, mail, and packages
  • Supporting the execution of key daily systems, such as student attendance, bussing, and supply requests
  • Creating and maintaining student files in accordance with required policies and standards
  • Assisting in any/all emergency or high-urgency situations
  • Serving as a fully engaged member of the school staff
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2 years of office experience required (school office experience preferred)
