Job description

Position Description

Advanced Equipment is accepting applications for a Field Technician in our Lorton, VA Location.

The Field Technician performs quality inspections, maintenance and testing of power generators and ATS controls. Ability to perform scheduled and unscheduled repairs on diesel and gaseous systems, and ATS controls. Experience with dual paralleling and switchgear for large systems or plant operations. Prepares service reports, parts requests and other related reports. Must have strong understanding of all engine types. Must be a self starter and be able to work independently.

Required Skillset

• Generator maintenance, repair and testing, minimum of 3 year of experience in Diesel Engines and/or generator sets.
• Or Certification of Graduation from a Diesel Technology or Electrical Trade School or Community College with experience.

Qualifications:

• Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
• Reading and understanding electrical schematics and blueprints in troubleshooting faulty equipment.
• Working with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Performing retrofit and commissioning generators
• High proficiency using electrical test equipment
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on diesel and gaseous generators
• Must be well organized and use laptops with Excel and Outlook programs
• Possess good communication skills
• Adhere to all company safety procedures and policies
• Ability to work independently and solve problems
∙ Ability to adhere to work schedule
∙ Willing to be on-call after regular hours, weekends and holidays (rotating schedule)
• Maintain required certifications and OSHA test (costs are paid by employer)
• Act with integrity and provide outstanding service to customers and work with coworkers to build teamwork for a positive work place

Education & Other Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED Required
• Must have Clean Driving Record
• Pass Criminal Background Check
