Position Overview

Better Living Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and culturally competent Mental Health Therapist for a full-time position in our community-focused, remote outpatient psychiatry practice. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify patients' unique experiences and needs, facilitating tailored treatment plans that reflect their cultural backgrounds.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic modalities, ensuring interventions align with patients' individual experiences and cultural contexts.
• Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions aimed at fostering resilience, addressing mental health concerns, and promoting overall well-being.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that all aspects of patient care are coordinated effectively.
• Provide crisis intervention services and support during mental health emergencies, utilizing your training to assess situations and respond appropriately.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health issues, available treatment options, and community resources to enhance their understanding and support.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation of patient encounters in line with legal and ethical standards.
• Engage actively in case conferences and training sessions geared towards cultural competency and best practices in mental health therapy.
• Commit to ongoing professional development by staying informed on the latest research and developments in the field of mental health care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This position focuses on serving a diverse client population, particularly ethnic and cultural minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and immigrants. You will utilize culturally responsive practices to create a safe and accepting atmosphere, ensuring that all clients feel valued and understood. Your expertise will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of care we provide, leading to improved patient outcomes and community engagement.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current, valid licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Texas.
• Strong understanding of mental health disorders, evidence-based treatment approaches, and the principles of cultural competence in therapeutic practice.
• Experience delivering individual and group therapy with an emphasis on culturally responsive care.
• Demonstrated crisis intervention skills, with the ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build rapport and trust with a diverse clientele.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and related computer applications to manage patient data efficiently.
• A commitment to maintaining professional standards, ethical guidelines, and patient confidentiality in all interactions.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team focused on comprehensive patient care.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working within a community health clinic or similar outpatient setting.
• Training or certification in culturally competent practice or related fields.
• Experience conducting group therapy sessions tailored for diverse populations.

Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers an attractive annual salary range of $70,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
