What you will do
Role Overview:
The Operations Manager will oversee operations and maintenance activities of EDPR's wind power generation facilities and lead daily ownership representation.
Main responsibilities:
  • Manage all operations and maintenance activities for balance-of-plant (BOP) assets within established operating guidelines for projects 100 - 400 megawatts in size
  • Interface with local communities to establish and maintain rapport
  • Oversee the designated facilities' operations, maintenance-related contracts, and agreements for sites under warranty
  • Manage turbine operations and maintenance for sites off-warranty
  • Facilitate daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting in accordance with operational, safety, regulatory, and environmental performance requirements
  • Monitor each facility's performance in terms of comparison with expected results and key performance indicators
  • Engage appropriate internal and external resources as performance issues may require
  • Represent the company locally before interconnection and customer entities
  • Represent the company in landowner and community relationships
  • Work closely with equipment suppliers and service entities as needed
  • Monitor generating equipment for proper function, service, and repairs
  • Identify and engage contractors for facilities' balance-of-plant maintenance
  • Ensure that on-site activities at each facility are conducted in a safety-conscious manner
  • Ensure that quality electronic communication is established and maintained at each facility
  • Monitor new facility construction and commissioning activities
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and delivery of the optimal product
  • Interface with Engineering, Accounting, and Development staff and other individuals, both internal and external, as needed
  • Maximize performance and ensure value retention for each facility
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure quality and adherence to the highest standards in work practices
  • Conduct and report on periodic meetings with contractors and partners
  • Ensure reliability of the Bulk Electric System
  • Ensure compliance with site environmental regulations pertaining to hazardous waste, oil spill prevention, avian studies, and wildlife conservation
  • Additional duties as required

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related field strongly preferred
  • 5 - 7 years relevant experience, preferably in wind energy
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software and database application
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise. (Preferred).

Travel:
Up to 10%
Behavioral Requirements:
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to wind and solar energy including resource studies, environmental and cultural studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and civil and electrical engineering
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Understanding of basic financial principles (IRR, NPV, Depreciation, etc)
  • High attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to be self-motivated and perform job tasks in a relatively unstructured environment with little supervision
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical demands & working conditions:
  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to frequently perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching approximately 75% of the time while on wind farm sites; ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Walking: Ability to walk .25 to .5 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on wind farm sites.
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Lifting: Ability to frequently lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and to occasionally lift items weighing between 20 and 40 pounds
  • Climbing:
  • Ability to climb turbine towers
  • Weight, including harness and tools, must be in accordance with the weight limit as specified by the ANSI Fall Protection Standards
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
  • Tolerance to Extreme Weather Conditions: Ability to work in adverse weather conditions 25% of the time while on wind farm sites
  • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
