Description
Position Summary
The Cultivation Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of cultivation operations and assigned cultivation staff within the greenhouse cultivation environment. This role oversees work execution, employee performance, plant care activities, and compliance processes to ensure plants are produced safely, efficiently, and in full accordance with company procedures and California cannabis regulations.
The Cultivation Supervisor coordinates labor, monitors plant health, maintains accurate tracking and labeling, and ensures proper use of systems including METRC and cultivation tracking software. This position serves as the primary operational leader on the floor and is accountable for production workflow, quality standards, and employee safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Supervision & Production
• Supervise daily cultivation activities including transplanting, pruning, defoliation, trellising, irrigation support, harvesting, and sanitation.
• Assign daily work, set priorities, and direct team members to meet production schedules.
• Evaluate staffing needs and coordinate labor coverage for cultivation cycles and peak operational periods.
• Prepare materials and workspace in advance of scheduled work to ensure efficient workflow.
• Monitor plant health and identify pest, disease, irrigation, or nutrient issues and escalate concerns to the Cultivation Management or Growing Team.
• Maintain cultivation maps and plant tracking records and ensure accurate communication to METRC reporting personnel.
• Coordinate plant movement and transfers between departments with logistics and harvest teams.
Compliance & Inventory Control
• Ensure all plants are properly tagged and labeled with strain, batch, and harvest information.
• Maintain accurate plant tracking and inventory documentation in compliance with METRC and state regulations.
• Verify green waste is weighed, recorded, and provide this information to Track and Trace team.
• Support audits, inspections, and internal compliance reviews
• Follow and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Employee Supervision & Leadership
• Direct and supervise cultivation employees, including training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Track employee attendance and timekeeping accuracy.
• Promote productivity, accountability, and teamwork within the cultivation staff.
• Communicate daily goals, expectations, and safety practices to employees.
• Partner with HR on employee relations matters including performance issues, corrective actions, and documentation.
• Ensure proper staffing conduct, professionalism, and adherence to company policies.
Safety & Environmental Controls
• Enforce required use of PPE and safe work practices.
• Maintain a safe working environment and proactively identify hazards.
• Report all injuries, incidents, and near misses immediately and complete required documentation.
• Coordinate with Safety and HR regarding investigations and corrective measures.
• Work with Maintenance to ensure cultivation equipment and environmental systems are functioning properly.
Administrative & Reporting
• Maintain daily operational records and production logs.
• Collect and report cultivation data accurately and timely.
• Communicate operational updates, quality issues, and production concerns to management.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste and cost.

Education and Experience
• Minimum 2 years' experience in greenhouse, agriculture, or cultivation environment required
• Minimum 2 years' experience supervising employees or leading a work team required
• Experience with regulated production environments is strongly preferred
• Experience with METRC or inventory tracking systems preferred
Requirements
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed
• Ability to work extended hours during harvest or peak cycles
• Ability to work independently and lead a team
• Ability to follow and enforce company policies and procedures
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods, use hands and arms, bend, stoop, kneel, and perform repetitive motions. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, or move up to 50 pounds. Use of tools and equipment required for cultivation work is expected.
Work Environment
Work is performed in a greenhouse and/or indoor cultivation environment with high humidity, plant material exposure, temperature fluctuations, moisture, and agricultural odors. Employees may be exposed to fertilizers, soil, and cleaning agents. PPE is required.
Travel
Occasional travel between cultivation sites and company locations may be required.
