Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:


High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (preferred). Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form. A friendly, professional, and customer service-oriented demeanor. Previous law enforcement or security experience preferred. Possess a valid driver's license. Must meet City of Cullman and Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. Experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties.

MISSION STATEMENT:


Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism is dedicated to improving quality of life through exceptional parks, facilities, events, and recreational opportunities for all.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


    • Greets all guests in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Provides effective and efficient customer services including, but not limited to, giving directions, answering questions, interacting with friendly conversation, assisting guests with vehicle problems, or reuniting separated parties.
    • Promotes and maintains responsive community relations.
    • Exhibits a strong physical and authoritative presence to help deter criminal activity as needed.
    • Conducts bag checks at the admissions gate.
    • Monitors parking areas.
    • Takes possession of lost property and secures in Lost & Found storage.
    • Monitors for and reports suspicious activity, taking appropriate actions as necessary.
    • Recognizes potentially dangerous situations and responds in the safest, most effective manner.
    • Responds to various calls for service including, but not limited to:
      • Guest or staff incidents, accidents, or injuries
      • Guest complaints/inquiries
      • Unruly guests
      • Shoplifting, theft, burglary, etc.
      • Motor vehicle accidents occurring on the property
    • Sounds alarms or places calls for outside assistance when needed in emergencies.
    • Assists first responders with the security of on-premise vehicle accidents including, but not limited to, directing traffic, collecting witness information, and removal of debris.
    • May be asked to remove/relocate certain species of wildlife.
    • Secures gates and checks windows/doors after facilities close.
    • Writes, maintains, and presents detailed reports and documentation, noting any damages, theft, incidents, accidents, injuries or other irregular activity.
    • Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
    • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working, amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
    • Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
    • Work hours vary, which will include nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
    • Attends all meetings as requested by supervisors.
    • Follows all federal, state, local, and park-enforced safety laws and regulations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.


    WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


    Work is frequently outside in various weather conditions, with occasional exposure to adverse weather conditions, standing for an extended amount of time.


    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


    The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting while performing job duties. Exposure to moving mechanical parts. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds of weight without assistance.
