The Quality Control Manager leads manufacturing quality control activities across assigned Cubic Integrated Supply Chain operations. This roleis responsible forbuilding a proactive, data-driven quality control organization that prevents customer escapes, reduces rework and scrap, improves first-pass yield, and strengthens inspection effectiveness across receiving, in-process, final, and customer acceptance activities.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with extensive SAP ECC 6.0 Quality Management experience anddemonstrateduse of structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, fishbone/Ishikawa analysis, 5 Why, FMEA, control plans, and corrective/preventive action methods. This positioninterfaces closely withManufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Program Quality, Supplier Quality, customers, and external auditors to drive operational quality performance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily Quality Control operations, including receiving inspection, in-process inspection, final inspection, acceptance activities, and nonconforming material control.
  • Develop and manage inspection strategies that are risk-based, data-driven, and aligned to product, process, customer, and contractual requirements.
  • Use SAP ECC 6.0 Quality Management functionality to support inspection planning, inspection lots, usage decisions, quality notifications, defect data, material status, and related quality reporting.
  • Drive problem solving for recurring defects, customer escapes, internal nonconformances, rework, scrap, and cost of poor quality.
  • Lead or facilitate 8D investigations, root cause analysis, fishbone/Ishikawa diagrams, 5 Why analysis, FMEA reviews, and corrective/preventive action plans.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Program Quality to identify failure modes, improve process controls, and prevent repeat issues.
  • Establish and monitor quality performance metrics including FPY, defect trends, rework, scrap, inspection throughput, supplier rejects, customer escapes, and COPQ drivers.
  • Ensure inspection plans, quality gates, control plans, and acceptance criteria are properly implemented, maintained, and followed during production.
  • Lead, coach, and develop inspectors, quality technicians, and quality control personnel to improve consistency, accountability, and technical capability.
  • Support MRB and nonconforming material processes by ensuring accurate defect documentation, containment, disposition support, and follow-up corrective actions.
  • Lead external audit readiness and execution for assigned Quality Control areas, including preparation, coordination, objective evidence review, audit hosting support, response development, and closure of audit findings.
  • Support internal audits and ensure Quality Control processes comply with Cubic requirements, customer requirements, AS9100/ISO 9001, and applicable regulatory or contractual standards.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives that improve inspection effectiveness, reduce reactive firefighting, and improve customer quality outcomes.
  • Communicate quality risks, trends, priorities, and corrective action status to functional leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations, Business, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Quality, Operations Quality, or related manufacturing quality roles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a Quality Control or inspection organization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with SAP ECC 6.0, preferably including SAP Quality Management (QM) processes such as inspection plans, inspection lots, quality notifications, usage decisions, defect recording, material status, and quality reporting.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of structured problem-solving and quality improvement methodologies, including 8D, fishbone/Ishikawa, 5 Why, FMEA, control plans, CAPA, and RCCA.
  • Experience reducing escapes, rework, scrap, defects, inspection delays, or cost ofpoor qualitythrough measurable corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management system requirements, including experience supporting or leading internal and external audits.
  • Ability to analyze quality data,identifytrends, prioritize risk, and convert findings into effective corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and decision-making skills with the ability tooperateacross manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, program, and customer-facing environments.

Cubic Pay Range:

$96,000.00 - $179,000.00 + benefits.
