Job description

Summary

This individual is a seasoned aquatics worker. Has an understanding of a high functioning aquatic department and able to perform various responsibilities in and around pool area.


Qualifications

  • Must have previous lifeguarding experience
  • Current American Red Cross PR/CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified. Training provided by the city of Bentonville if needed
  • Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification. Training provided by the city of Bentonville if needed Duties and Responsibilities
  • Identify potential accident hazards
  • Remain alert and prevent accidents
  • Enforce pool rules to all participants
  • Carry a positive attitude toward all job responsibilities
  • Handle disciplinary situations with courtesy and fairness
  • Addressing customer service concerns and issues
  • Being on time for your schedule shift
  • Respond quickly to the level of your training and emergency action plan
  • Remain physically able to demonstrate and perform rescues and lifesaving skills
  • Able to meet in-service requirements monthly
  • Ability to find qualified substitute for yourself in time of need
  • Notifying manager of broken or unsafe equipment
  • Daily chemical testing and participant head count when needed
  • Able to perform all aquatic duties; roving, climbing into guard chair, sitting in rescue ready position, and overall cleanliness of pool area.
  • Take hourly head counts, journal them, transfer them to excel documents on a daily, weekly, monthly basis
  • Run daily chemical checks and log them
  • Evaluate any potential hazards and either remove them or report them to the proper supervisor to care for the situation
  • Able to help with aquatic event set up and tear down
  • Needs to be recue ready at all times; equipped with rescue equipment, staff uniform, and whistle while on duty.
  • Able to work flexible hours
  • Responsible in keeping all certifications (PR/CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding) up to date to preform your job responsibilities.
  • Be willing to be active in other Parks and Recreation responsibilities to help us reach our overall mission.
