Job description

Airswift is seeking experienced Protection & Control (P&C) Relay / Commissioning Technicians to support substation projects within transmission and distribution networks.
The role involves hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protection systems and substation equipment, including work in energized or brownfield environments. Candidates must be capable of executing field activities independently and supporting energization efforts safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform testing, commissioning, and maintenance of protective relays (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens), circuit breakers, transformers, CTs/PTs, and substation control/SCADA systems
  • Execute end-to-end relay testing, functional testing, and protection & control scheme verification
  • Support energization and commissioning activities in live or brownfield substation environments
  • Develop and follow test plans, isolation/switching procedures, and commissioning documentation
  • Conduct secondary injection testing, current/voltage testing, and relay settings validation
  • Troubleshoot relay systems, control wiring, communication networks, and SCADA/RTU integration issues
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards (NFPA 70E, OSHA) and utility/NERC requirements

Qualifications & Experience
:
  • 3-10+ years of experience in substation testing, relay testing, or commissioning
  • Hands-on experience with testing equipment such as Doble, Omicron, or similar
  • Strong experience working with relay platforms (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens)
  • Proven ability to independently execute testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
  • Solid understanding of protection schemes, substation equipment, and electrical testing procedures

Preferred Skills:
  • NETA Certification (Level I, II, III, or IV)
  • Experience supporting utility or EPC projects
  • Experience working on transmission systems (69kV-500kV+)
