EVENING SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS
ADULT EDUCATION
Brief Description:
The Board of Education of the Middlesex County Magnet Schools is currently seeking applications for the position of Evening School Instructor(s) for our evening school courses. This role combines subject matter expertise with instructional skills. Location will be at either the Piscataway Magnet School or the East Brunswick Magnet School, with dates to be determined by the Director and Instructor. Compensation will be based on the rates of pay in effect for the 2026-2027 school year.
* Classes will only run based on enrollment
Current Part-Time Adult Education Teaching Openings:
- Art
- Basic Plumbing
- CPR/First Aid
- Culinary
Position responsibilities include:
  • Direct supervision and evaluation of students
  • Provide documented feedback to students on the level of performance
  • Records Daily Attendance
  • Monitors and responds to district email
  • Expertise in trade-specific tools, equipment, and procedures
  • Understanding of relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in both theoretical knowledge and practical application
  • Patience and adaptability in working with students at various skill levels
  • Computer literacy for record-keeping and instructional technology

Qualifications Preferred:
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the relevant trade
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred
  • Previous teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with diverse adult learners
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional methods

Work Environment:
The position involves both classroom and workshop settings. May require evening or weekend hours to accommodate working adults' schedules.
