Job description

CT TECHNOLOGIST -X-RAY TECH

JOB DISCRIPTION AND DUTIES: 

• Interpreting the orders provided by the physician or other prescribing medical professional 

• Explaining what will happen during the CT scan to patients 

• Positioning patients properly to take the necessary images 

• Administering IVs that contain contrast dyes to enhance imaging 

• Examining images to ensure they’re usable 

• Updating patient medical information 

• Cleaning and maintaining CT scan equipment 

• Keeping inventory of CT scan supplies and making orders for supply restocks as required 

*** Will also help with X-rays as needed

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITES: 

• Deep familiarity with CT scan equipment 

• Basic knowledge of anatomy, biology and how to administer IVs 

• Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with CT scan equipment performance 

• Observational skills to notice any problems with images 

• Strong oral communications skills to field patients’ questions and collaborate with other members of the care team 

• Organizational skills to maintain an orderly supply area 

• Mathematics skills to assist with contrast administration and maintain inventory 

• Computer skills to operate CT scan equipment, use e-mail and update medical records using health information systems software 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  •  Associate degree or equivalent in radiologic technology   
  • Valid Radiologic Technologist license from the state of Kentucky 
    • Registered Radiologic Technologist (RT) with the American Registry of  Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) 
    • Current BLS Certification
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR
