Job description

Shift: 4 - 10 hour shifts OR 5 - 8 hour shifts between Monday through Friday. Holidays and call required. Call is 1 night of either primary or secondary call each weekday and 1 weekend (Friday through Monday) a month.

Compensation:

        Base Pay Range: $30.66 - $61.52 per hour, based on experience

        Call Pay: Additional $4.00 per hour for call shift

        Choose Between Sign-On Bonus -OR- Retention Rewards

o   Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 OR $20,000

o   Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000

  Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away

  Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000

  Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY CAREER PATH:

This Interventional Radiology career path provides a progressive advancement opportunity from Specialty Technologist to Interventional Radiology Technologist I and ultimately Interventional Radiology Technologist II, with increasing levels of technical expertise, procedural complexity, leadership, and departmental responsibility. At the entry level, Specialty Technologists develop foundational skills in interventional imaging, patient care, and procedural support. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist I, individuals expand their expertise in advanced procedures such as angiograms, thrombectomies, embolizations, line placements, and neuro interventions while gaining proficiency in technologies including digital subtraction angiography, cone beam CT, 3D reconstruction, and fusion CT. Progression to Interventional Radiology Technologist II reflects mastery of highly complex neurovascular and peripheral interventions, extensive knowledge of imaging equipment and inventory management, and the ability to support diverse patient populations across multiple service lines. Advanced-level technologists also serve as preceptors and educators, lead training initiatives, act as department super-users for new technologies, participate in on-call coverage, and contribute to departmental operations, quality, and patient safety initiatives, demonstrating both clinical excellence and leadership within the interventional radiology team.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

        Demonstrate working knowledge of imaging, supplies, and processes used in interventional radiology procedures, including but not limited to angiograms, thrombectomies, embolizations, line placements, neurointerventions, stenting, angioplasty, and drain placements. Perform advanced imaging requirements in digital subtraction angiography, cone beam CT, 3D reconstruction, and fusion CT.

        Maintain expansive knowledge of all inventory supplies (consignment, PAR, or departmental) and their locations, including those outside of Radiology. Scrub in during procedures using proper sterile technique to provide technical support to the physician in both routine and highly complex neuro and peripheral interventions for a vast range of acuity levels of patients, such as ICU, Trauma, General Anesthesia, Sedation, inpatient, and outpatient.

        Support a wide variety of procedures referred by various service lines that include, but are not limited to, Oncology, Trauma, Urology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, and Neurology. Participate in on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis, with the requirement to report to the hospital within 30 minutes of receiving a page.

        Support safe patient positioning, transfer, and preparation. Follow policies regarding contrast administration, radiation safety, chemotherapy agents, and radionuclide handling. Engage in patient safety by participation during the time out for procedures, at post-procedure huddles, and by following all organization policies and guidelines regarding confidentiality and safety. Provide education and training for student technologists. Serve as a preceptor for new interventional radiology staff. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

        Interventional Specialty Technologist:

o    RT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Actively training in Interventional Radiology.

        Interventional Radiology Technologist, I:

o   ARRT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT And Vascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT-VI) OR Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT-CV) OR Cardiac Interventional Radiography (ARRT-CI) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

        Interventional Radiology Technologist, II:

o   ARRT-R certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). and Vascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT-VI) OR Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (ARRT-CV), OR Cardiac Interventional Radiography (ARRT-CI) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). and

o   Six (6) months of experience with neuro and body interventional radiology procedures as evidenced by completion of competency checklist by departmental leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

        Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
