Major Duties
Under general supervision, the Staff Per Diem Speech Language Pathologist works directly with patients across the lifespan in a center-based, outpatient environment. This role focuses on delivering high-quality, individualized care while also contributing to the academic mission of the department by supporting graduate student learning. The incumbent will engage in clinical practice that emphasizes evidence-based interventions, collaboration with colleagues, and professional accountability. This role allows you to make a direct difference in patient care, shape future professionals in the field, and contribute to the continued excellence of the Language, Speech and Hearing Center.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with speech, fluency, language, voice, cognitive, hearing, and social communication disorders.
  • Create and implement personalized care plans.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Maintain documentation to meet all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide preceptorship to graduate students enrolled in the education programs of the Department of Communication Disorders and Science.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Equivalent to two (2) years of experience providing patient-based services.
  • Valid California State License in Speech-Language Pathology- must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Current ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) - must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Completion of ASHA supervision requirements - must be maintained throughout employment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of speech, fluency, language, voice, cognitive, hearing, and social communication disorders, with the ability to accurately evaluate, diagnose, and provide evidence-based treatment across diverse patient populations.
  • Skill in developing and implementing individualized care plans that address patient-specific needs, adapt to progress, and support long-term communication and cognitive outcomes.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team to achieve quality outcomes, while ensuring precise, timely documentation that meets all professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge and ability to provide preceptorship to graduate students, fostering clinical skill development and professional growth in alignment with the department's educational mission.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Classification: Per-Diem Non-Exempt-Healthcare / 7930 /0
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $27.39 - $63.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $27.39 - $100.10 per hour.
  • HOURS: Part Time; 20 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
  • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
