About CSSI

Coastal Security Services, Inc. has been a trusted name in professional security since 2006. Licensed in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, we provide armed and unarmed officers, mobile patrols, K9 units, and technology-driven security solutions to healthcare facilities, residential communities, commercial properties, schools, and special events across the Southeast.

We invest in our people. CSSI officers receive hands-on training through our in-house Academy โ€” including situational training, first aid, CPR, advanced certifications, and weapons training โ€” that goes well beyond state requirements.

About the Role

We are hiring a full-time Armed Campus Security Officer to provide security at K-12 school campuses in the Beaufort County, SC area. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role requires a professional, alert, and composed individual who understands the unique responsibilities of protecting a school environment.

This position follows the school calendar with a consistent Monday-through-Friday schedule during school hours. Summers, school holidays, and breaks follow the district schedule.

What You'll Do
  • Provide armed security coverage at assigned K-12 campus(es)
  • Monitor access points and control entry to school buildings and grounds
  • Conduct foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, parking areas, and perimeters
  • Coordinate with school administration, faculty, and local law enforcement
  • Monitor CCTV and alarm systems as applicable
  • Assist with emergency drills and safety protocols
  • Maintain accurate daily activity reports and incident documentation
  • Serve as a visible deterrent and professional security presence
Schedule

Monday through Friday during school hours, following the school district calendar. Weekends and school holidays are off. Hours may vary depending on campus events or district requirements.

Compensation

$22.50 โ€“ $23.50 per hour, based on site assignment. CSSI uses a post-based pay structure โ€” your hourly rate is determined by the site you are assigned to. Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours over 40 in a work week.

Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a SC SLED Armed Security Officer Registration
  • Clean criminal background โ€” must pass SLED background check and additional school district screening
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation
  • Must reside in or be willing to commute to the Beaufort County, SC area
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday during school hours
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional demeanor and composure under pressure
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and perform foot patrols
  • High school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior law enforcement, military, or armed security experience
  • School or campus security experience
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Crisis intervention or de-escalation training
  • Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and incident reporting
