This position requires floating throughout Cincinnati Children's locations.

Location/Unit: Perioperative Services - Burnet OR, Liberty OR, Eastgate, and Eden Outpatient Surgical Centers

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Care-Is personally accountable for providing patient and employee safety at all times. Identifies and addresses potential patient and employee safety issues. Demonstrates understanding of technical skill required to provide care to patients and families and the ability to perform them with confidence. Demonstrates the ability to make appropriate decisions, prioritize planned and unplanned events and address potential/actual problems. Procedure preparation is focused on cost effective provision of supplies and equipment to facilitate patient care with positive outcomes. Assist physicians with patient positions. Knowledge of standard and specialized equipment to aid in patient positioning. Utilizes appropriate techniques to assist surgeon with hemostasis/wound closure dressing applicator. Assists with transport to and from OR.

  • Department Responsibilities-Engages in doctor preference card (DPC) accuracy. Identifies potential problems and notifies management. Assumes ownership of problems. Demonstrates understanding of cost management process for PeriOp. Actively enhances flow of OR on daily basis. Engages in process improvement activities.

  • Professional Responsibilities-Actively engages in recycling. Supports activities of shared governance. Demonstrates awareness of clinical research and its value to clinical practice. Recognizes the issues that impact health care delivery and focuses on being part of the collaborative solution. Demonstrate accountability for continued self growth and learning, serving as a role model to peers and functioning as a unit, hospital and community resource.

  • Teamwork-Engages in multidisciplinary team process, actively participating in effective problem solving, collegial learning and pursuit of best practice. Deals with conflicts directly, constructively and tactfully. Promotes an atmosphere of cooperation, respect and trust within the team. Responsive to day-to-day needs of co-workers and division.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • May require a Bachelor degree, vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent

  • 3+ years of work experience in a related job discipline

  • Surgical Assistant credential
