Responsibilities

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Lead roadway design projects from planning through final design and delivery in accordance with FDOT standards and procedures
  • Serve as Project Manager overseeing scopes, schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Direct roadway geometry design, plans production, and QA/QC activities for PS&E deliverables
  • Oversee preparation of roadway design plans, specifications, estimates, and supporting technical documentation
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including traffic, drainage, structures, utilities, geotechnical, and environmental disciplines
  • Ensure compliance with FDOT manuals, design criteria, permitting requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Supervise and mentor engineering staff; manage subconsultants and internal QA/QC processes
  • Evaluate project risks, resolve technical issues, and maintain project profitability and performance metrics
  • Act as client liaison, assist in preparation/delivery of RFQ documents and presentations, and stakeholder coordination
  • Support pursuit efforts, including proposals, interviews, and business development activities
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and project teams


Requirements

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Minimum of 15+ years of roadway design experience
  • Proven experience managing FDOT roadway design projects
  • Strong knowledge of FDOT design criteria, manuals, and plans preparation requirements
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in design and project management tools (e.g., MicroStation/OpenRoads, ProjectWise)
  • Experience with PS&E development, QA/QC processes, and project delivery requirements
  • Experience and knowledge in one or more related disciplines, including minor structures, traffic engineering, traffic signalization, or stormwater/drainage engineering
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Curiosity and interest in continuous learning in AI and comfort experimenting and iterating quickly; uses data to validate ideas and measure impact.
  • Commitment to ethical and responsible AI adoption, including privacy-by-design and safe use of tools.
