Join the YWCA of Hawaii Island Team as a Human Resources Coordinator!

At the YWCA of Hawaii Island, we are committed to our mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity FOR ALL. We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Human Resources Coordinator to join our dedicated team.

Position Overview

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for coordinating HR related tasks and working with Program Directors and hiring managers to assist in pre-employment steps, onboarding, orientation, coaching, resignations, terminations and other duties as defined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with recruiting and interviewing applicants to fill vacant positions.
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward company goals.
  • Serves as a resource and advisor for employees and management team. Serves as a liaison when there are employment concerns between the parties.
  • Keeps records of retirement plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.
  • Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment.
  • Advises management, in conjunction with current HR consultants, appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Human Resources, or an Associate’s degree in Human Resources with 2 years experience. SHRM certification desired but not required.
  • Must have clerical and computer proficiency.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and word processing software. Crystal Reports experience helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Must pass FBI fingerprinting, background and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must have a clean driving abstract with current vehicle insurance and registration.
  • TB Clearance desirable.
