Job Description:

The Microchip Frequency and Timing Systems business unit is a world leader in precise time solutions and sets the world's standard for time. Our work produces, distributes, and applies precise time for the communications, aerospace/defense, IT infrastructure, and measurement industries.
Our VOP group located in Mount Holly Springs, PA is a market leader specializing in Quartz Precision Oscillators and Frequency Control Solutions. We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our Space and High Reliability Oscillator Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in RF design, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating cutting edge, high-quality oscillator products.
This is an onsite position that will report to the Mount Holly Springs facility.
Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of the design, starting with concept and architecture, followed by schematic design and layout, coordinating prototype assembly with in-house manufacturing, defining required testing, completing circuit analysis and releasing designs to manufacturing.
  • Supporting quote activity for new designs by, developing new specifications with customers, working with the Product Line Manager on new designs and concepts, and building and testing of compliant prototypes on schedule.
  • Provide electrical design support to cross functional team members from layout, supply chain, process engineering, reliability engineering, manufacturing, and quality engineering.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Required:
  • US Person
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electronic technology
  • 5+ years design experience in RF electronics industry
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory, specifically analog and digital circuits and components used within RF signal generation and wave shaping
  • Ability to use electronic simulation software for the design of circuits
  • Basic knowledge of test equipment that includes environmental chambers, power supplies, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Self-driven to lead and complete projects within established commitment times
  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with cross functional teams

Preferred:
  • Quartz crystal oscillator experience
  • Experience with worst case circuit analysis
  • Mechanical thermal and mechanical simulation experience
  • Familiarity with relevant military and space standards (MIL-PRF-55310, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL-STD-883)
  • Experience with radiation effects of RF components
