Lead Systems Engineer - Cryptographic Modernization Washington, DC / Hybrid Blu Omega is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support a high-visibility cryptographic modernization program. This role operates within a hybrid environment and is responsible for enterprise-level architecture, policy, modernization planning, and senior advisory support. The position requires experience supporting mission-critical systems within a government or national security context. Program Overview This program focuses on supporting the Department of War's migration toward post-quantum cryptography, influencing cryptographic priorities across portfolios, platforms, and networks. It involves strategic systems engineering, policy development, and cross-organizational coordination with agencies such as DISA, NSA, USCYBERCOM, and OSD. Key Details Location: Washington, DC / Hybrid (up to 3 days onsite per week) Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance Required Responsibilities * Evaluate current and future cryptographic capabilities across DoW systems, networks, and portfolios. * Develop cryptographic modernization strategies and transition roadmaps. * Support post-quantum cryptography migration and crypto-agility planning. * Analyze federal guidance impacts on cryptographic programs. * Create technical approaches, reference architectures, and modernization recommendations. * Support enterprise cryptographic inventory, discovery, and program review activities. * Provide technical guidance and respond to stakeholder inquiries. * Facilitate technical working groups and cross-organizational planning sessions. * Prepare assessments, white papers, briefings, and reports for senior government leaders. * Support research, interoperability analysis, verification, validation, and compliance activities. * Advise on modernization priorities, risks, and dependencies across enterprise portfolios. Required Qualifications * Minimum of 12 years of systems engineering experience supporting DoD or federal missions. * Active Top Secret security clearance. * Extensive experience with secure systems design, requirements development, and systems analysis. * Ability to develop enterprise-level technical approaches and strategies. * Strong technical writing, briefing, and stakeholder engagement skills. * Experience facilitating technical discussions and working groups. * Ability to communicate complex technical issues across network, transport, compute, and enterprise environments. * Demonstrated ability to operate independently and provide senior technical leadership. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with cryptographic modernization or enterprise cryptographic migration. * Post-quantum cryptography transition planning or crypto-agility experience. * Knowledge of Key Management Infrastructure or Key Management Enterprise. * Experience with CNSS, OMB, NDAA, or national security guidance. * Support experience with OSD, DISA, NSA, USCYBERCOM, or military services. * Development of reference architectures, modernization roadmaps, or enterprise baselines. * Briefing senior government or executive stakeholders. * Exposure to budget, resource, or programmatic analysis related to enterprise modernization. Compensation Pay Range: $180,000-230,000 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
