Job description

About Wintermute

Wintermute is one of the largest algorithmic trading companies in digital assets. We provide liquidity algorithmically across all major cryptocurrency exchanges and trading platforms, a broad range of OTC trading solutions as well as support high profile blockchain projects and traditional financial institutions moving into crypto. Wintermute is not just a trading company, it is one the most prominent and influential players in the digital asset markets: we are connected and partnering with all major players in the industry, we actively participate in the development of the blockchain ecosystem through investments, partnerships, and incubation of projects. Working at Wintermute

Wintermute is a global company with offices in London and Singapore. It opened its US office in early 2025 and it is set to grow significantly over the next several years. It’s a unique opportunity to play a role in the early rapid expansion of Wintermute Americas.

Business Development at Wintermute

We are looking for a Business Development Associate to drive growth for our two core business lines: OTC and liquidity provisioning. We are looking for a candidate with experience and/or passion for crypto markets, who is ready and excited to make a big impact for Wintermute.

You will be responsible for acquiring new counterparties and partners globally, as well as cultivating and growing Wintermute's existing counterparties with a focus on the United States market. You will be responsible for a set of opportunities (a specific market, vertical, and/or product) and will own these opportunities from end-to-end. You will establish your own strategic growth agenda, supported by structured guidance from leadership in Wintermute’s US and global offices. We offer the market’s leading liquidity products, partner with top-tier blockchain products, and have a strong pipeline of strategic growth opportunities and inbound counterparty demand. We have no legacy processes, no corporate bureaucracy, no multiple levels of approvals, and the highest standards of professionalism.

What you will work on
  • Grow the OTC business across both the traditional finance and crypto native ecosystems (both manual and RFQ) - this includes developing and executing your own growth plan which will have many of angles to it: acquiring new counterparties, developing existing relationships, cooperating with developer teams on productizing the solution and execution of trades
  • Grow the crypto liquidity provision business - deepen relationships with existing crypto projects and acquire new ones
  • Develop new relationships with high-profile crypto projects, crypto VCs, institutional investors, miners and other parties of the crypto eco-system; note that we are connected to many of these parties or can get introduced, so this is all about systematically developing the relationships and bringing them to the next level
  • Work with various cross-functional teams to drive brand awareness in the key markets you are responsible for
  • Develop existing relationships with exchanges globally and bring them to the next level
  • Keep track of key launches and news in the crypto eco-system and proactively identify cooperation and business development opportunities
Hard Skills Requirements:
  • BA and at 1-2 years of work experience in a high performing, high paced environment (i.e. consulting, banking, Fintech etc)
  • Experience with the financial services/capital markets industry; experience with crypto markets and/or trading companies/hedge funds is an advantage
  • Experience in business development or any client-facing role (B2B sales, management consulting, investment banking, sales & trading, etc.) Be ready to talk about numbers/quota achievement, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - this is not about pitching, but being convincing, concise, precise, a good listener; being clear on next steps and always following up on promises
  • Comfort navigating legal and commercial aspects of business development is essential
  • Strong product knowledge of OTC derivatives
  • Understanding of and interest in token structures, market making, CEX and DEX liquidity provision, and trading/ market liquidity dynamics
  • SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 licenses preferred
Why you should join our dynamic team:
  • Opportunity to work at the world's leading algorithmic trading firm in digital assets.
  • Engaging projects offering accelerated responsibilities and ownership growth compared to traditional finance environments.
  • A vibrant working culture with team events, celebrations and company wide team building events.
  • A cool office in the heart of New York City which often hosts some of the leading industry events
  • Great company culture: informal, non-hierarchical, ambitious, highly professional yet with a startup vibe, collaborative and entrepreneurial.
  • A performance-based compensation with a significant earning upside alongside standard perks like private medical insurance
Note:
  • Please ensure you are eligible to work in the US, at the moment Wintermute USA is unfortunately not able to sponsor US visas; if visa is a consideration for you, feel free to apply to the UK or Singapore offices where we offer visas and potential longer term reallocation to the US.
