How much do cryogenics transportation jobs pay per year?

As of Aug 15, 2026, the average yearly pay for cryogenics transportation in the United States is $74,701.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $57,500.00 and $85,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the difference between Cryogenics Transportation vs Cryogenic Equipment Technician?

AspectCryogenics TransportationCryogenic Equipment Technician
Required CertificationsHazardous materials handling, CDL licenseRefrigeration, HVAC, or specialized tech certifications
Work EnvironmentTransport vehicles, industrial sites, storage facilitiesManufacturing plants, maintenance workshops, labs
Industry UsageTransporting liquid gases like nitrogen, oxygenMaintaining and repairing cryogenic equipment

While both roles involve cryogenic materials, Cryogenics Transportation focuses on safely transporting liquid gases, requiring driving and hazardous materials handling skills. Cryogenic Equipment Technicians maintain and repair cryogenic systems, emphasizing technical repair skills. Both roles are vital in the cryogenics industry but differ in daily tasks and required certifications.

What are the unique safety challenges faced in cryogenics transportation, and how are they addressed on the job?

Cryogenics Transportation professionals routinely handle extremely low-temperature materials, which pose risks such as asphyxiation, cold burns, and pressure-related hazards. To address these challenges, strict safety protocols are followed, including regular equipment checks, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and continuous monitoring of temperature and pressure levels. Teams receive specialized training to handle emergencies and collaborate closely with safety officers and logistics coordinators to ensure safe and efficient transit. Maintaining up-to-date certifications and participating in safety drills are also integral parts of the job.

How much do cryogenics transportation make?

Cryogenics transportation professionals typically earn between $40,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience, certifications, and location. Skilled drivers who handle hazardous materials and operate specialized equipment may earn higher wages and additional benefits.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in cryogenics transportation, and why are they important?

To thrive in Cryogenics Transportation, you need a thorough understanding of hazardous materials handling, safety protocols, and logistics management, typically supported by relevant certifications such as a CDL with Hazmat endorsement. Familiarity with cryogenic storage systems, temperature monitoring tools, and compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations is crucial. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and strong communication skills help ensure safe and efficient operations. These skills are vital to prevent accidents, maintain regulatory compliance, and guarantee the safe delivery of sensitive cryogenic materials.

What is cryogenics transportation?

Cryogenics transportation jobs involve the safe handling, loading, and transport of materials at extremely low temperatures, such as liquid nitrogen, oxygen, or other gases. Workers in this field operate specialized vehicles and equipment designed to maintain cryogenic temperatures during transit. Their responsibilities include monitoring pressure and temperature, ensuring proper safety procedures, and complying with regulations for hazardous materials. These jobs are critical in industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and research, where the safe delivery of cryogenic substances is essential.

Job description

Description
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE
New York University Tandon School of Engineering
The NYU Nanolab at New York University Tandon School of Engineering is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Associate to work in quantum information science and engineering, with a focus on superconducting and superconductor-semiconductor hybrid quantum devices.
New York University (NYU) is one of the top private universities in the United States, and the Tandon School of Engineering, located in Brooklyn, NY, is deeply committed to excellence in teaching and learning. Tandon fosters student and faculty innovation and entrepreneurship that make a difference in the world. The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and NYU Nanolab host a growing interdisciplinary research program in superconducting and semiconductor-based quantum technologies, with strong ties to national laboratories and industry partners.
Responsibilities
Candidates will be responsible for conducting experimental research in superconducting quantum hardware and quantum materials, contributing to sponsored research projects in quantum information science and engineering. Responsibilities include nanofabrication, materials synthesis, cryogenic transport and microwave characterization of quantum devices, data analysis, and dissemination of results through publications and presentations.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated background in experimental quantum materials, superconductivity, or semiconductor device physics, as evidenced by a strong publication record. Previous experience in superconducting devices, cryogenic measurements, or microwave characterization is necessary.
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to one or more of the following research directions:
1. Superconductor-semiconductor hybrid quantum devices
2. Superconducting quantum circuits
Salary range
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $65,000 to $70,000 depending on the candidate's experience and qualification.
Qualifications
