Cruise ship retail jobs focus on promoting product sales to each guest aboard a boat. In this role, you may staff a shop to help sell various products, encourage each customer to buy a souvenir from a gift shop, and otherwise help provide products while a cruise line is out at sea. Some details of this job depend on the cruise line and the type of shop at which you work. Common shop types onboard ships include official gift shops, fragrance shops, boutiques, and fine jewelry stores. You may also sell more mundane goods, such as swimming equipment for guests or crutches and basic medical supplies for injured passengers. Most cruise ship retail locations include both store associates and a store manager, and some may have an assistant manager.
