Responsibilities

Director of Risk Management - Hospital Setting

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility) 

A growing, 144-bed behavioral health facility – Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital provides a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24-hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues will be offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility provides a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.  

Position Summary  

The Director of Risk Management (Facility Risk Manager/FRM) has broad responsibility to protect the hospital's assets from loss. The FRM is responsible for coordinating the loss control efforts and advising management and administration on all potential sources of loss and for making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure. The structure and functions of the Risk Management Program are designed so as to comply with guidelines and standards of TJC, other regulatory agencies, and the UHS T.E.R.M© Program.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, or related health field required.  Master’s Degree preferred.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in risk management/improving organizational performance within an acute medical or psychiatric treatment setting.

Additional Requirements:   A strong knowledge of JOINT COMMISSION, MICHIGAN MENTAL HEALTH CODE, CMS standards, and any other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
