Certified Medical Assistant – Cardiology September Start Date
Cross County Cardiology

Position: Certified Medical Assistant (Full-Time)
Practice: Cross County Cardiology
Locations: Edgewater, NJ and additional sites in Northern New Jersey (including Teaneck) – must be willing to work across multiple locations
EHR System: Athena One

Cross County Cardiology, a busy multi-site cardiology practice affiliated with Mount Sinai, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. This role supports high-volume outpatient cardiology care in a professional, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and room patients; obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and chief complaint
  • Perform EKGs, prepare patients for examinations, stress tests, and other cardiology procedures
  • Assist physicians during office visits and diagnostic testing
  • Administer injections and perform phlebotomy as permitted under NJ regulations and physician supervision
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Athena One EHR
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms; order and maintain clinical supplies
  • Schedule appointments, follow up on referrals, and support administrative workflow
  • Educate patients on procedures and follow-up instructions
  • Travel between practice locations as needed

Requirements:

  • Current national certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA – AAMA, RMA – AMT, CCMA – NHA, or equivalent recognized certification) – required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
  • Prior experience in a cardiology or specialty practice strongly preferred
  • Current BLS certification
  • Strong computer skills and experience with electronic health records (Athena One experience a plus)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work at multiple Northern New Jersey locations
