Job description

Salary Range:  $23.26/hour - $37.44/hour     Salary Grade:  15     FLSA: Nonexempt

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to assist in enforcing DeKalb County's potable water distribution system and ensuring compliance with water backflow regulations.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Inspects facilities in the field for appropriate backflow requirements; tests Watershed backflows; and prepares reports indicating the required devices, locations, and account information.
Checks that all backflow components are in functioning order and maintained properly; ensures correct installation of required components; and fixes or replaces parts as required to maintain proper working order of backflow apparatus.
Attends pre-construction meetings and answers questions pertaining to backflow issues; and reviews construction plans with contractors.
Assists Cross Connection Specialist as required.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED; four years work experience involving water operations, water laboratory or water related construction/maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; must obtain a Backflow Device Technician certificate within one year of employment and maintain such certification during employment in this classification.
