Job description

At Hidden Valley Orchards, we strive to create a family friendly agritourism experience. In 2026, the farm team will be caring for over 2,000 apple trees, a market garden, planting u-pick pumpkins, a crop maze, livestock, grapes, and more.

We will assist with projects around the farm as needed and generally be available to the larger agritourism operation as needed (i.e., hay wagon rides, lawn and garden care, etc.). We are seeking farm hands for the main farming season from August to November with the potential to extend the role in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily livestock chores for small groups of animals
  • Help with planting, pruning, irrigating, fertilizing, and cultivating of apple trees and grape vines
  • Assist with a 1/2 acre market garden; weeding, harvesting, cultivating, tilling, fertilizing, etc.
  • Assist with some observation bee hives
  • Work with the larger agritourism operation on select days when extra hands are needed (i.e., hayrides, facilities care, unloading produce, maintaining food displays, etc.)
  • Help with cultivating, planting, and harvesting of u-pick pumpkins and flowers and a crop maze
  • Assist with fence and irrigation system building and maintenance
  • Work with the team on other crops or agricultural ventures should they arise during the season.

Required Qualifications

  • Able to lift 50 lbs and work in all types of weather conditions with proper gear
  • Willingness to learn new skills such as tractor driving, animal care, gardening, etc.
  • Ability to work 8 hour days of manual labor alone or with others
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Experience working with your hands in an outdoor environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • A desire to consider farming as a career path, with an interest in apples
  • Some experience working on a farm or with tractors
  • Unique talents that can benefit the farm (i.e., mechanical skills, irrigation, animal care, construction, etc.)
  • Evidence of a good academic record and some positive work experience

Reporting Structure & Company Culture

  • Report directly to the Farm Manager and be available to assist the General Manager should help be required
  • Hidden Valley Orchards farm team is hardworking, professional in its demeanor, curious, honest, friendly, customer focused, and caring in nature towards the land and animals.
