Job description

That means using all the tools at our disposal as a media company to help build a massive, diverse coalition united behind a core set of democratic values: freedom, equality, compassion, and the rule of law.

Job Summary:

Crooked Media is hiring a Sr. Manager, Marketingin the Marketing department, reporting to the VP, Marketing. This positionwill lead marketing and PR efforts for the Crooked Media content slate and the Crooked brand. You’ll work with cross functional partners agencies to bring your campaigns to life in order to drive demand and audience to the Crooked network and make our brand more famous. You’ll manage one direct report, with the potential to grow your team. For the following strategic priorities, you may collaborate with external partners, managing resources and their integration into projects and the organization.

This role is based out of our Los Angeles, and follows a hybrid schedule based on the job’s needs. We are ideally looking for Los Angeles-based candidates or candidates willing to relocate before the start date.

How You’ll Spend Your Time:

Overseeing marketing for Crooked content, including new show launches

  • New Show Launches- Manage team to drive go-to-market strategy for new Crooked shows, thinking outside the box to create best-in-class creative marketing campaigns that deliver on business and revenue goals. Work collaboratively across Crooked teams & external partners to lead planning, strategy, project management & execution of campaigns.
  • Crooked Content Slate - Oversee network and external marketing campaigns for Crooked’s full content slate, including but not limited to podcasts, digital series, and Crooked’s creator program. Lead strategy that both attracts new audiences and keeps existing audiences engaged. Lead cross-functional teams to achieve business goals (including oversight of a direct report on campaign strategy, positioning & tactics) managing day-to-day promo integrations across podcasts & digital channels.
  • Stakeholder management & collaboration: Represent Crooked as the primary point of contact for Marketing campaigns both internally & externally, leading host & partner relations and presentations, regularly updating Crooked stakeholders on progress, and maintaining clear lines of comms across the company (including content, social, revenue, community & events teams)
  • Oversee promotional efforts for distribution partnerships - Work with external partners to drive audience and awareness across partner programming (ex: Crooked on MS NOW, SANEtv)

Brand & Talent Comms Planning

  • Support the VP of Marketing in leading comms & PR planning for Crooked brand & content slate, crafting compelling narratives and pitches to make the brand, content & hosts more famous.
  • Develop narratives & positioning for Crooked’s brand, new content launches, hosts, and existing slate to drive awareness and affinity for Crooked and it’s talent via press & earned media
  • Work in close collaboration with Crooked’s PR team, managing comms and team progress, communicating company needs & pushing outside the box thinking & rapid response pitches to capitalize on the news cycle

What You’ll Bring To The Table:

  • 5+ years of experience in marketing and/or digital media
  • A personable people manager - 2-3 years of experience managing people; you’re a natural teacher, coach your direct reports through their deliverables, and hold them to standards of excellence. Model accountability and ownership over your responsibilities and projects.
  • Experience balancing budgets and using audience insights & data to inform your work, ensuring all efforts ladder up to business goals and ROI for the company
  • Experience working on ad creative across digital mediums (audio, video, social)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience & ability to manage & foster relationships with creators, agents & managers
  • Familiarity with Google Drive (including Sheets, Slides and more) and Microsoft Office. Comfort using and/or learning reporting tools like Google Analytics, Shopify, Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Megaphone, etc
  • Media landscape knowledge -A strong understanding of audio marketing (ad formats, audio feed specifications), digital advertising (mobile, influencer, paid social, display) and traditional (OOH, TV, press) channels
  • Agility -Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously while reacting quickly, dynamically, and strategically
  • Highly organized and entrepreneurial in spirit

Pay and Perks

This position is covered under the Writers Guild of America East Collective Bargaining Agreement and the salary for this role is $125,000.
In addition to your salary, we also offer full-time employees excellent benefits, including:

Compensation

We offer competitive pay based on the market, and select employees are eligible for commission or bonus pay. We also provide a 100% match on all contributions up to 4% of annual salaries.
