Is cro in demand?

Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) specialists are in increasing demand as companies focus on improving website performance and user experience. Skills in data analysis, A/B testing, and tools like Google Optimize or Optimizely are highly valued in digital marketing and e-commerce roles.

What is a CRO developer?

A CRO Developer is a specialist who focuses on Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) for websites and digital products. Their main role is to implement and test changes to web pages—using tools like A/B testing and analytics—to increase the percentage of visitors who complete a desired action, such as making a purchase or filling out a form. CRO Developers work closely with marketing and UX teams to identify pain points in the user journey and apply data-driven solutions. They typically possess skills in front-end development, analytics platforms, and user experience principles. By continuously optimizing websites, CRO Developers help businesses achieve better results from their online traffic.

What are some of the common challenges faced by a CRO developer when optimizing conversion rates across different platforms?

CRO Developers often encounter the challenge of ensuring that conversion optimizations are effective across various devices, browsers, and user segments. Balancing speed of implementation with thorough A/B testing and data analysis can also be demanding, as changes must be both technically sound and data-driven. Additionally, collaborating closely with designers, marketers, and analysts is essential to align technical solutions with broader business goals, which requires strong communication skills and adaptability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CRO developer?

To thrive as a CRO Developer, you need expertise in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), A/B testing methodologies, and a solid understanding of conversion rate optimization principles, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with tools like Google Optimize, Optimizely, VWO, Google Analytics, and tag management systems is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with marketing and design teams to drive impactful testing strategies. These skills and qualities are crucial for improving user experience and maximizing website conversion rates, directly impacting business growth.

Job description

Veranex's mission as an Innovation CRO is to improve patient outcomes by accelerating our clients' innovations to market. As the world's only end-to-end professional services firm focused on MedTech, we take clients' Vision to Velocity through our comprehensive service portfolio, with expertise in human centered design and product development, preclinical and clinical research, regulatory affairs, and market access and reimbursement consulting.
About This Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering software for innovative medical device products. You'll lead technical initiatives from concept through manufacturing, shaping system architecture and ensuring high-quality execution across the lifecycle.
You'll work on a diverse set of technologies, from highly efficient, low-power embedded systems running lightweight RTOSs to sophisticated, multi-subsystem platforms powered by embedded Linux. These systems often feature modern, intuitive user interfaces built with tools like QT. You'll collaborate closely with our UX team to bring these experiences to life.
You'll also mentor team members, influence engineering best practices, and help build scalable, reliable solutions that make a real difference in healthcare.
What You Will Do:
  • Lead software design and development activities across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, and deployment
  • Design and develop software applications for medical devices used in lab, hospital, and remote environments
  • Develop secure, cloud-connected applications in compliance with HIPAA and IEC 62304 standards
  • Integrate software with hardware platforms and troubleshoot hardware/firmware interfaces
  • Lead development of control algorithms and real-time, interrupt-driven communication systems
  • Translate user needs and system specifications into detailed software requirements
  • Design and oversee execution of unit, integration, and automated acceptance testing plans
  • Produce and maintain documentation aligned with FDA software design control requirements
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support testing, validation, and system integration efforts
  • Drive problem-solving for complex technical challenges and contribute to system architecture decisions

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 3-6+ years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of software design principles, system architecture, and development best practices
  • Experience with regulated environments (e.g., FDA, IEC 62304, or similar)
  • Experience developing cloud-connected and/or embedded systems applications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment based in Providence, RI

Preferred:
  • Experience in MedTech or regulated healthcare environments
  • Familiarity with real-time systems, embedded development, or hardware/software integration
  • Experience with secure software development and data privacy frameworks (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Prior experience leading small teams or technical initiatives
  • Advanced degree in a related field
