Job description

Marketing Automation & CRM Specialist

Location: Canfield, Ohio
Work Arrangement: On-Site or Hybrid Preferred; Remote Considered
Employment: Full-Time
Compensation: $60,000–$80,000/year, depending on experience

About iSynergy

iSynergy is a growth company that designs and installs revenue systems for businesses that want more predictable, scalable growth.

We don't approach marketing as a collection of disconnected tactics. We connect strategy, acquisition, CRM, lifecycle marketing, automation, analytics, and execution into a system that can be measured and improved over time.

We're looking for an experienced Marketing Automation & CRM Specialist to own the technical execution behind the CRM, lifecycle, email, and automation components of those systems.

This is not a strategy-only or management position.

You need to be able to get into the platforms and build.

Work Arrangement

Our strong preference is to find someone local who can work on-site or hybrid from our Canfield, Ohio office.

However, we're open to fully remote candidates when the experience and fit are exceptional.

This is intended to be a full-time role. We're also open to structuring the relationship as an independent contractor arrangement for the right candidate.

Capability comes first. We're looking for the right person rather than forcing the right person into a specific employment structure.

What You'll Own

You'll be responsible for building, managing, troubleshooting, and improving marketing automation, CRM, email, and lifecycle systems across multiple client accounts.

Your work will include:

  • CRM architecture, configuration, and optimization
  • Marketing automation workflows
  • Lifecycle marketing and customer journeys
  • Email and SMS marketing campaigns and automation
  • Lead nurturing and follow-up sequences
  • Lead routing and assignment
  • Lead scoring and qualification logic
  • Segmentation and list management
  • Forms and data capture
  • Pipeline and lifecycle automation
  • CRM data hygiene
  • Custom properties and field architecture
  • Attribution and source tracking
  • Platform integrations
  • Automation QA and troubleshooting
  • Documentation of systems and workflows
  • Identifying opportunities to automate repetitive processes
  • Identifying opportunities to incorporate AI into marketing, CRM, and lifecycle workflows
  • Building and implementing AI-assisted automations where they create meaningful operational or performance improvements
  • Using AI to improve the efficiency of system development, documentation, QA, analysis, and troubleshooting

You'll work closely with strategy, paid media, SEO, analytics, content, design, and client delivery to make sure the systems behind our clients' marketing actually work together.

Platforms

Our client technology stacks vary, but hands-on experience with the following is especially valuable:

Klaviyo

HubSpot
Shopify

WordPress

Experience with tools and technologies such as the following is also valuable:

  • Zapier
  • Make
  • APIs
  • Webhooks
  • GA4
  • Google Tag Manager
  • Ecommerce platforms
  • CRM integrations
  • Analytics and reporting platforms

You do not need experience with every platform we use.

You do need to understand marketing automation deeply enough to learn new platforms quickly and understand how data, systems, and logic should work together.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has actually built these systems, not someone who has only managed people who built them.

You should be comfortable taking a business requirement like:

"When a customer triggers a key ecommerce event such as making a purchase, abandoning a cart, or reaching a specific engagement threshold, we need to identify the source channel, update their behavioral segment, assign the correct automation path, initiate the appropriate follow-up workflow, notify the right systems or teams, and ensure we can report on what happens next."

...and turning that into a functioning, tested system.

You should have a strong understanding of:

  • Triggers, conditions, branches, delays, and workflow logic
  • CRM objects, properties, lists, and relationships
  • Lifecycle stages and customer journeys
  • Email and SMS automation, compliance, and deliverability fundamentals
  • Segmentation and personalization
  • Lead routing and qualification
  • Data synchronization between platforms
  • Integration logic
  • Attribution and tracking fundamentals
  • How data quality affects automation
  • How to QA an automation before putting it into production
  • How to diagnose and repair broken automations and integrations

Most importantly, you need to know how to troubleshoot when something doesn't work.

AI & Emerging Technology

We actively use AI throughout iSynergy and expect this role to be comfortable working with AI as part of their everyday workflow.

You don't need to be an AI engineer or have extensive AI development experience, but you should be comfortable using modern AI tools and interested in incorporating AI into marketing automation, CRM, and operational systems where it creates meaningful value.

We're especially interested in candidates who have experimented with or implemented AI for things like:

  • Workflow automation and decision logic
  • Lead or customer data enrichment
  • Classification, scoring, and routing
  • Personalization
  • Content and email workflow support
  • Data analysis and insight generation
  • Internal process automation
  • Documentation, QA, and troubleshooting
  • Connecting AI models with other platforms through APIs, Make, Zapier, or similar tools

We're not looking for someone who simply uses ChatGPT to write emails. We're interested in someone who sees AI as another tool for building smarter systems.

You May Be a Strong Fit If...

You've spent several years working hands-on inside marketing automation, CRM, email, or lifecycle platforms.

You're comfortable working across multiple client accounts, business models, and technology stacks rather than operating within a single company's marketing system.

You enjoy figuring out why systems aren't working.

You think logically about data, triggers, dependencies, and edge cases.

You're comfortable inheriting messy systems and organizing them.

You can build sophisticated automations independently rather than relying on step-by-step instructions.

You can explain technical problems to non-technical people without making them unnecessarily complicated.

You document what you build.

You proactively identify problems and opportunities instead of waiting for someone else to find them. And when you say you know a platform, you can actually work inside it independently.

This Role Is Probably Not for You If...

Your experience is primarily high-level marketing strategy.

You've mostly managed agencies or specialists rather than personally building systems.

Your CRM experience consists primarily of updating contacts, sending emails, or managing deals.

You've used HubSpot or Klaviyo but haven't built sophisticated workflows, automations, segmentation, or integrations within them.

You need detailed instructions for every workflow you build.

You're uncomfortable diagnosing data, integration, or automation problems.

Or you have broad familiarity with a lot of marketing platforms but limited depth in any of them.

We would rather hire someone with deep technical competence who can learn our systems than someone with a long list of platforms on their résumé but limited hands-on ability.

What Success Looks Like

You'll help us create CRM, lifecycle, email, and automation systems that are organized, reliable, measurable, and scalable.

That means:

  • Leads move where they're supposed to move.
  • Prospects and customers receive the right communication at the right time.
  • Lifecycle stages accurately reflect where people are in the customer journey.
  • Data stays clean and usable.
  • Automations work reliably.
  • Integrations don't quietly break.
  • Email programs support acquisition, nurturing, retention, and revenue.
  • Teams can understand what's happening inside the system.
  • Reporting reflects reality.
  • Manual processes are automated where it makes sense.
  • Our clients' revenue systems become stronger over time.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with responses to the questions below. Be specific about the systems and automations you've personally built.

We're especially interested in understanding:

1. What marketing automation or CRM platform are you strongest in, and what have you personally built with it?

2. What's the most complex automation you've personally built? What triggered it, what logic did it contain, and what systems did it connect?

3. Tell us about an automation or integration that wasn't working correctly. How did you diagnose the problem and fix it?

4. Which platforms can you confidently work inside today without training?

5. Give us an example of how you've used AI within a marketing automation, CRM, integration, or operational workflow. If you haven't implemented one yet, describe something you would want to build and how you would approach it.

6. Are you interested in a traditional full-time employee position, an independent contractor relationship, or either?

7. If you're not local to the Canfield/Youngstown area, would you consider relocating for the right opportunity?

Candidates who advance through the interview process should expect a practical working exercise designed to demonstrate hands-on marketing automation and CRM capabilities.

We're much more interested in what you've actually built than how many marketing platforms you've been exposed to.
