As of Jul 26, 2026, the average hourly pay for crj 900 in the United States is $32.08, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $27.64 and $36.06 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Who is the largest CRJ900 operator?

SkyWest Airlines is the largest operator of the CRJ900 regional jet, with a significant fleet used primarily for regional and feeder routes. The airline employs pilots and crew trained to operate this aircraft type, often requiring type ratings and regional airline experience.

Is 30 too late to become a helicopter pilot?

Becoming a helicopter pilot at age 30 is feasible, as many pilots start training in their late 20s or early 30s. The key factors are obtaining the necessary certifications, gaining flight hours, and meeting health and experience requirements, which can be achieved at any age with dedication.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Crj 900 position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CRJ 900 pilot, you need a commercial pilot’s license with multi-engine and instrument ratings, flight experience (typically regional jet time), and strong aviation knowledge. Familiarity with flight management systems (FMS), autopilot, and the specific avionics suite installed in the CRJ 900 is necessary, as well as current medical certification. Excellent situational awareness, decision-making, and communication skills set outstanding pilots apart. These skills and qualifications are critical to ensure passenger safety, regulatory compliance, and smooth flight operations in a highly regulated and dynamic environment.

What are some typical responsibilities and work environments for CRJ 900 pilots?

As a CRJ 900 pilot, your primary responsibilities include pre-flight planning, conducting safety checks, operating the aircraft during flights, and collaborating closely with your co-pilot and cabin crew. The work environment is dynamic, often involving varying schedules, layovers, and the need to quickly adapt to different airports and weather conditions. Pilots commonly fly multiple sectors in a day and must adhere to strict safety and regulatory protocols. Teamwork and clear communication are essential, as you consistently coordinate with air traffic control, dispatchers, and ground staff. This role provides valuable experience for pilots aspiring to advance to larger aircraft or move into instructor and management positions within the airline.

What pilots make $500,000 a year?

Pilots flying large, long-haul aircraft such as the CRJ 900 typically do not earn $500,000 annually. However, some highly experienced airline captains, especially those working for major carriers with seniority and overtime, can reach or exceed this level through base pay, bonuses, and per diem allowances. Salaries vary based on airline, experience, and flight hours.

What is a CRJ 900 job?

A CRJ 900 job typically refers to roles related to operating, maintaining, or servicing the Bombardier CRJ 900, a regional jet used by airlines. Jobs may include pilots, flight attendants, aircraft mechanics, and ground crew who ensure safe and efficient operations. Pilots require specific training and certification to fly the CRJ 900, while maintenance staff must be qualified to inspect and repair the aircraft. Many of these roles are found at regional airlines that operate the CRJ 900 for short- to medium-haul routes.

Do pilots make $400 an hour?

CRJ 900 pilots typically earn between $70 and $150 per hour, depending on experience, airline, and seniority. While some senior pilots at major airlines can earn higher wages, $400 an hour is not a common rate for this aircraft type or pilot position.
