Zayo's communications infrastructure solutions include dark fiber, private data networks, wavelengths, Ethernet, and dedicated Internet access. Location: This position can be remote, based in the US.
This position requires significant experience in common systems engineering standards (RBOC,AT&T, or major telecommunications provider). The applicant will design and specify material for AC and DC power equipment including commercial AC power building entries, switchboards, transformers, generators, UPS backup systems, rectifiers, power distribution, batteries, grounding systems, fire control systems, HVAC, and additional materials required to support installation. Position also requires maintenance of central office records, including updates to floor plans and front equipment drawings to reflect installations and completing capacity management reports for all AC and DC power equipment. This position can be fully remote in the US.
Responsibilities:
  • While this is an engineering role, this person will be heavily engaged in a Project Management (PM) capacity for engineering builds. This individual should understand the engineering behind the design but is more focused on being able to function as a liaison between the engineering team and the contractors. This person will be responsible for ensuring the various projects remain on time and budget. You will need to track several projects at any given time. You will need to be able to understand engineering to determine if something isn't being built correctly or not to spec. You will be the first line of defense to ensure the project is delivered to meet the engineering needs.
  • Manage Contracted Maintenance vendors for callout repairs, and quoted service repairs on CI systems to include invoicing and quoted PR submittals.
  • Development of best operating practices and standards.
  • Write Method of Procedures (MOPs) for all CI equipment repairs and augments.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with approved MOPs.
  • Evaluate vendor/contractor field service reports describing all activities (preventive maintenance, repairs, etc.) performed on the CI equipment.
  • Resolve operational deficiencies discovered on Preventive Maintenance Inspections(PMI) and on Contractor PMs.
  • Assist Field Operations and NCC/NOC technicians with Operation Support issues, that may require vendor or manufacturer support.
  • Develop reliability reports to assist in identifying areas of concern that could develop into future problems.
  • Subject Matter Expert on CI equipment issues for all PG's and advises them on solutions for technical problems or barriers.
  • Manage all CI augment projects (CapEx/OpEx) to affect break/fix repairs.
  • Environmental Compliance and to ensure all permitting is completed annually.
  • CI Equipment inventory accuracy and Data Integrity in SF and M6.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, and or Civil Engineering OR equivalent experience.
  • Ideally 5+ years in a telecommunication of all Critical Infrastructure (CI) equipment: AC power distribution, buildings, grounding, fire systems, generators, ATS/MTS, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), DC Power Plant Systems, and Cooling systems to ensure operational integrity, improve efficiency and reduce operational costs
  • Project Management experience is required
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Database applications is preferred

Estimated base salary range: $77,100 - $118,600 USD/annually
The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
