Under the direction of the Sr Facility Manager this role works as a team member in an Operations & Maintenance organization that provides a variety of O&M services within a 24/7/365 environment. Provides duties with constant awareness of the need to preserve the reliability of the critical load. Also provides operational support for building systems of other facilities as assigned. Responsible for carrying out maintenance and operations by performing the following duties personally or as a team member in a Data Center Operations & Maintenance environment.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Data Center Facilities Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the operations, maintenance, and reliability of critical data center infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. They will work closely with the Facilities Operations team, contractors, and vendors to ensure maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
What You Will Do
  • Perform operations and maintenance activities for critical data center infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC/R systems.
  • Utilize and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Execute and adhere to approved SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, and MMRs to ensure safe and reliable facility operations.
  • Respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot issues, perform corrective actions, and support root cause analysis efforts.
  • Coordinate with contractors and vendors to safely execute maintenance projects, repairs, and system upgrades.
  • Perform critical switching, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and other operational procedures while prioritizing the protection of critical load and personnel safety.
  • Maintain compliance with company, customer, environmental health and safety (EHS), and regulatory requirements.
  • Support facility capacity planning, reporting activities, and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking.
  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and operational excellence across all assigned maintenance activities.

What We Are Looking For
Required
  • 7+ years of experience in Tier II, Tier III, or Tier IV data centers, building engineering, or critical facility operations and maintenance environments.
  • Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC/R Technology, or a related technical field; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Journeyman-level knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC/R systems.
  • Experience using CMMS platforms and work order management processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25%.

Preferred
  • HVAC, Journeyman Electrician, or Master Electrician certification.
  • Experience with capacity planning, KPI reporting, and critical facility performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of Visio, AutoCAD, building automation systems (BAS), and data center monitoring systems.

Work Environment (Facility Role)
  • Work Schedule: This position supports a 24/7/365 critical operations environment and requires working a rotating shift schedule, which may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Team members participate in an on-call rotation and must be available to respond to emergencies and critical facility events.
  • Physical Demands: Position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, frequent bending, and working in mechanical and electrical equipment spaces.
