Job description

General Description
The Global Crisis Management & Business Continuity Manager is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Crane Worldwide Logistics' global Crisis Management (CM) and Business Continuity (BC), programs.
This position serves as the enterprise owner of all crisis management and continuity frameworks, ensuring the organization can effectively prepare for, respond to, recover from, and learn from disruptive events impacting personnel, facilities, transportation operations, technology systems, customers, and global supply chain operations.
The role establishes global standards, policies, procedures, crisis playbooks, business continuity plans, training programs, and exercise requirements while partnering closely with the GSOC, Security Intelligence, Transportation Security, Facilities Security, Regional Security Managers, IT, Operations, HR, Legal, Compliance, and Executive Leadership Teams.
Essential Job Functions
Global Crisis Management Program Ownership
  • Own and maintain the Global Crisis Management Program.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise crisis management policies, standards, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Establish enterprise crisis activation criteria and escalation frameworks.
  • Maintain Crisis Incident Command Center (CICC) procedures and response protocols.
  • Develop crisis management playbooks for major operational, security, cyber, natural disaster, workplace violence, geopolitical, transportation, and reputational events.
  • Ensure consistent crisis management practices across all business units and regions.

Business Continuity Program Ownership
  • Own and maintain the Global Business Continuity Program.
  • Develop enterprise-wide continuity standards and planning methodologies.
  • Establish requirements for:

    • Business Impact Assessments (BIAs)
    • Recovery strategies
    • Continuity plans
    • Recovery time objectives
    • Crisis recovery procedures

  • Ensure business continuity plans are developed, reviewed, and maintained across critical business functions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of organizational resilience capabilities.
  • Coordinate continuity planning efforts across all business units and regions.

Incident Command & Crisis Coordination
  • Serve as the enterprise coordinator for major incident and crisis response activities.
  • Lead crisis coordination during significant security, operational, transportation, facility, technology, and customer-impacting events.
  • Support executive leadership with decision support and situational awareness during crisis events.
  • Ensure proper activation and coordination of crisis response teams.
  • Establish and maintain incident command structures and response frameworks.

Executive Crisis Support & Communications
  • Advise executive leadership during crisis situations.
  • Coordinate executive reporting and leadership notifications.
  • Develop executive crisis situation reports and status updates.
  • Facilitate executive crisis management meetings and decision-making processes.
  • Support internal and external stakeholder communications during incidents.

Preparedness, Training & Exercises
  • Develop and maintain enterprise emergency preparedness programs.
  • Establish annual crisis exercise requirements.
  • Design and facilitate:

    • Tabletop exercises
    • Functional exercises
    • Executive simulations
    • Crisis leadership workshops
    • Regional preparedness drills

  • Evaluate exercise outcomes and track corrective actions.
  • Ensure crisis response teams maintain operational readiness.

Global Risk & Resilience Integration
  • Partner with the Security Intelligence Manager to incorporate threat intelligence into continuity and preparedness planning.
  • Integrate risks associated with:

    • Cargo theft
    • Geopolitical instability
    • Civil unrest
    • Natural disasters
    • Pandemic events
    • Labor disruptions
    • Critical infrastructure failures
    • Supply chain interruptions

  • Develop resilience strategies that reduce operational disruption and recovery time.

GSOC Integration & Emergency Monitoring
  • Partner with the GSOC Manager to ensure crisis detection, escalation, and notification processes remain effective.
  • Establish crisis escalation workflows and communication protocols.
  • Maintain activation criteria for crisis response teams.
  • Ensure GSOC-supported incident tracking and documentation requirements are maintained.

Regional Security & Site Preparedness Governance
  • Provide functional leadership and guidance to Regional Security Managers regarding emergency preparedness and business continuity requirements.
  • Establish site-level preparedness standards and continuity expectations.
  • Ensure continuity planning requirements are consistently implemented globally.
  • Review regional preparedness and continuity performance metrics.
  • Support recovery planning following significant incidents.

Operational Recovery Planning
  • Develop recovery frameworks for:

    • Warehouses
    • Gateways
    • Offices
    • Transportation operations
    • Secure yards
    • Critical customer operations

  • Establish recovery prioritization methodologies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional recovery activities during major disruptions.
  • Support continuity planning for customer-specific operational requirements.

Program Governance, Audits & Compliance
  • Establish CM/BC governance standards.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of crisis management and continuity programs.
  • Support customer, regulatory, and internal audit requests.
  • Ensure continuity documentation remains current and auditable.
  • Develop corrective action tracking and resilience improvement programs.

Physical Requirements
  • Job may require extended sitting or standing, use of standard office equipment.
  • Talking, hearing, and using hands to operate computer equipment. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May require travel to client and site locations to support implementation activities, including on-site presence during go-live periods.
  • Job will require presence at the assigned work location.
  • Minimum travel of 25-50% will be required.

Other Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent time management abilities are necessary.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ability to exercise good judgment, and ability to achieve results through others is required.
  • Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in investigations, loss prevention tools, and project/program management tools.
  • Strategy and planning: must possess an ability to strategically plan over a 12-24 month time span as well as strong client orientation and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Risk Management, Homeland Security, Business Administration, Security Management, Public Administration, or related discipline.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive crisis management, emergency management, business continuity, security, operations, risk management, or resilience experience.
  • Experience managing enterprise-wide continuity or crisis programs.
  • Experience supporting global operational environments.
  • Experience leading cross-functional response teams during significant incidents.
  • Experience developing business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks.
  • Knowledge of TAPA, CTPAT and other industry related security standards.

Certification and Licenses
  • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP)
  • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
