Criminal Information Technician I- Brady SectionDo you enjoy research? This job might just be the change you are looking for!
Telework eligible after 2 week in-office trainingThe main purpose of the Brady section is to act as a customer service center and clearing house for firearms background checks. Federal Firearms Licensees (FFL's) of the state of Utah such as retail and pawn stores, as well as Law Enforcement agencies serve as the main customers for this section.
Duties include:- Data entry of arrest information into various databases.
- Research criminal justice databases.
- Customer service both written and verbal.
- Analyze data results to determine if an applicant would be prohibited by state or federal statute from owning, purchasing, or possessing a firearm.
- Provide statistics, broadcast data to law enforcement agencies and other functions involving security of information.
QualificationsMinimum qualifications:- Basic data entry skills
- Must pass the Utah Bureau of Identification Proficiency test with in probationary period and maintain certification thereafter.
- Fingerprints and a thorough background check are required upon hire.
Preference will be given to current BCI staffPreferred qualifications: - Will have the ability to enter data accurately and timely.
- Will have excellent customer service skills (both written and verbal).
- Will have the ability to become proficient in understanding and applying state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Will be able to keep information highly confidential.
Supplemental Information-Telework eligible after 2 week in-office training.
-Work schedule is TBD and will be discussed within the interview.
-Weekend and holiday work required.
-Employees who successfully pass probation and required training may be series promoted to a Criminal Info Technician II.
