Job description

"OUR PEOPLE ARE OUR STRATEGY"

We are in need of Shuttle Driver for our VSS International, Inc . This opportunity is in Santa Cruz County is contingent upon being awarded the project.

The ideal candidate will be a safe, hardworking, team-oriented person who is ok with working outdoors on road construction crews.

General Duties

  • Safely operate assigned shuttle vehicles or company vehicles to transport employees, crew members, passengers, tools, materials, and/or equipment to designated locations. 
  • Follow assigned routes, schedules, dispatch instructions, and company procedures to ensure timely pick-ups, drop-offs, and transportation support. 
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including checking tires, fluids, lights, brakes, safety equipment, cleanliness, and overall vehicle condition. 
  • Assist passengers with safe boarding and exiting when needed and ensure passengers follow applicable safety procedures while riding in company vehicles. 
  • Maintain a clean, fueled, organized, and presentable vehicle interior and exterior. 
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, dispatch, foremen, crew members, passengers, hotel staff, vendors, and customers as needed. 
  • Complete required trip logs, mileage records, inspection forms, fuel records, passenger counts, or other transportation-related documentation accurately and on time. 
  • Report vehicle defects, mechanical concerns, delays, accidents, incidents, safety hazards, or passenger concerns to the supervisor promptly. 
  • Follow all traffic laws, DOT requirements, company driving policies, client requirements, and jobsite safety rules. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

 Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safe driving practices, defensive driving, traffic laws, route planning, and vehicle safety procedures. 
  • Ability to safely operate assigned shuttle vehicles in varying traffic, weather, roadway, and jobsite conditions. 
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections, identify maintenance concerns, and complete accurate documentation. 
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills when interacting with supervisors, crew members, passengers, and the public. 
  • Ability to use GPS, maps, mobile devices, radios, or other communication tools to follow routes and receive instructions. 
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and willingness to work overtime, weekends, nights, and variable schedules as needed. 
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Previous professional driving, shuttle driving, commercial driving, passenger transportation, or construction transportation experience preferred. 
  • Valid driverโ€™s license required. CDL and passenger endorsement may be required depending on assigned vehicle type, route, and passenger capacity. 
  • Acceptable driving record required in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements. 
  • Must be able to pass company-required pre-employment screening, drug testing, background checks, motor vehicle record checks, and any applicable physical or fit-for-duty requirements.
