Job description

Affidian Credit Union is looking for an experienced Accounting person for their Denver location. We are an established, strong organization looking for someone who enjoys helping others and building relationships. The pay rate is from $27.00 to $38.00 per hour and will commensurate with experience. The Credit Union promotes from within, and encourages opportunities for growth and advancement.

This position is located at 700 W. 39th Avenue, Denver, CO 80216. This is a full-time, in-office, position. Working hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Position Description:
Responsible for the daily and monthly balancing of general ledgers.  Performs weekly accounts payable duties. Works closely with CFO, Executive Management and Department Managers to ensure all Credit Union products are in balance.    Ensures the Credit Union is compliant with internal accounting policies, regulations, financial controls, and credit union industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reconciles GL accounts daily, weekly, and or monthly to identify and correct errors.
  • Maintains accounting policies and procedures, and ensures adherence to regulations to lessen risk.
  • Assists with the coordination of internal/external audits and provides necessary documentation.
  • Performs all functions related to accounts payable, ACH transactions, Zelle money transfers, electronic transfers, share drafts, remote deposits, wire transactions, fraud resolution, and VISA cards. 
    Provide Credit Union member and staff assistance and resolves complex issues.      
  • Performs other related duties, including special projects, as needed or requested.

  • Strong knowledge of credit union accounting terminology and standards.
  • Excellent analytical and judgement skills.
  • Pro-active in solving problems and taking initiative to go a step above.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and work environment.
  • Comply with all published directives and expectations of the Affidian Credit Union Employee Handbook.
  • Provide courteous, friendly, timely and professional assistance to all members and staff.

Education and/or Experience: 
  • Associate’s degree in accounting from a four-year college or university; plus three years of financial institution experience.
